We may have a little problem here...
Your connection scored at only 27% of your hosts average. This does not always mean that you're in bad shape. Our knowledge of hosts averages derive from the previous 30 days tests ran from a given provider. If the internet package that you pay for happens to be slower than most people on your ISP then you will get this message.
:::.. Download Test Results ..:::
Download Connection is:: 129 Kbps about 0.1 Mbps (tested with 512 kB)

4M line :(

"In other news, Julius Malema has reportedly said that he killed the web, killed the downloader" in reference to a struggle song he likes to sing.

Yip - I have 4 servers setup - one for mweb, one for news.astraweb, one for us.astraweb and one uk.astraweb - all are dead dead dead :)

Update - things are moving. Now getting 18Kbps. Its alllllliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiive

Looks like I'm back in business! Is it shaping?? Is MWEB reacting to our cries of "WTF is goingz onz?!" ? I dunno...

All I know is, I'm using an Astaweb account with MWEB and it's looking good.

Going @ 185KB/s on NNTP at the moment, best throughput i've had at this time of night for over a month ....

I'm also getting 50% download speed now (is this 10pm shaping??). However my problem is this... the crap download speeds were around for most of this year between 8am and maybe 11pm... then downloads would go much faster. Then the last 2-3 weeks, downloads were full speed all day. Now, they're back to different shaping hours without any word. I wish ISP's would be more transparent with their shaping!!! And if I find out there's throttling going on... then I'll cancel like I did with Afrihost.

MWEB does not allocate specific shaping hours. Shaping is dynamic and is dependent on network load. They have repeatedly stated that they do not throttle.

50KBps now on NNTP. A lot better. Sooooo what did they change?

Bugger...back to 10KBps. At least its better than 0 :)

Surely if you've seen one porn movie you've seen them all ? Or do you just do it for the interesting articles ?

Guys, try the Mweb server... mine @ 200 kBps

Mine is going at 60KB/s up/down. Better than yesterday but still not as good as in March.

What file? PM me if you like I just want to test the same specific file.

Ok, so the file I am downloading on the Mweb news server is running at 45-60Kb/s. An definite improvement as from today compared to recent times. The same file Mark was downloading are doing 200Kb/s. So yeah there seems to be an major improvement. Hope it remains that way.
