OK so Astraweb has gone to pot since about 1pm today i cannot get a single file to download, no matter what setting I use for my astraweb server defined in nzb, have Mweb started shapping heavily on premium nzb news servers??

And this is going to become an increasing trend if Mweb insist on persisting with the harsh shaping that they've been imposing, increasingly so as of late. Mweb you guys really need to try minimize or get rid of shaping already, nevermind tighten it more

Last few weeks it has become impossible to even stream youtube or any other video site... have to wait for the file to buffer (on a 4meg uncapped mweb account). MWeb Guy, think you can help here? Is this the norm? If so, i need a new ISP, will to take suggestions guys.

Read the posts and you will see that the answer is yes

To everyone complaining about M-web - they've made a change, and refuse to admit that they screwing us. There are numerous VPN services available, and this traffic is not shaped - this will bypass Mwebs shaping rules, but since they no longer shape, and simply block certain connections, they will not be able to terminate your service - if they do this is in contravention of the CPA.

To the m-web staff on this forum, please just hire a bot to answer the various queries - it will be more useful that you are. Or wait, should I "PM you my account details"?

I don't mind shaping that's the thing. But 0kb/s isn't shaping...

I must say, I have been with M-Web for the past 5 months and have been very happy. Been following this thread for awhile and it seems that only Cape Town has been having trouble. It seems though the honeymoon is over... My torrents are dead these days and my WOW is on and off like crazy. I'm in JHB btw. What is going on???

Torrents are dead - what's up MWeb - is this your new shaping (aka blocking) policy?

How do I go about cancelling this thing and make sure they don't charge me for next month?

What are my alternatives? I know openweb is there, but their owner is pretty rude, so i will consider other uncapped options.

openweb gold is the only other option, there is no other options :(

rest is IS throttle crap

Hi All
I have escalated the query that a lot of you are having with Torrents (0kb/s) as soon as I receive any information on this I will provide feedback.

Regards
MWEB Guy

Hey MWEB guy, fileserve.com dead. You can get to the homepage but thats all.Been like this for the past few days. working on SAIX, Cell C and vodacom so it must be you guys.Loads of Mweb uncapped subscribers complaining about the exact same thing. Please tell you network admins that there is shaping is not blocking. I can get to these legimate sites for which I pay for but access to the worst porn sites work at hyperspeed. Please get back to us...

Why is Steam completely INACCESSIBLE on Mweb? I can't even log in. That means pretty much 0bps throughput. Indeed it looks like a lot of people are fed up with Mweb now. As mentioned, it seems undeniable that they've made an intentional change without any public disclosure. It seems it's their intent to lose customers, and if it's not, too bad as that's inevitable now anyway

Have you pm'ed Mweb guy with your details so he can do absolutely nothing ? :)
If you are lucky he might put off protected access for a little placebo effect while not telling you what he just put off.

Same story as last night on Fileserve ...

EXACTLY the same file ....
On my router on MWeb does not resolve the download name.

On the exact same router on Afrihost, resolves the download name and ready to download.

On my CellC 3G router resolves the download name and ready to download.

SO DO YOU WANT TO TELL US THIS IS A FILESERVE ISSUE ONE MORE TIME?!?

Last night around midnight I was able to prep a download on Fileserve, so you do have something in place that is restricting access at certain times.
This is not shapping at all. This is reverse throttling! You are restricting access to a web service completely to a time that suits you.
I do not download during the day on weekdays, but I do like to prep my downloads and tell my PC to start downloading after 11pm/midnight, and still get a good night's sleep.

But please, come clean and if there are new policies in place, let us know, and we can all decide to stay or go.
If you have screwed up, fix it and let us know.
