Shaping does not bother me, and at times after hours they do not shape any traffic as far as I can see - or at least that was the case a month or so ago. Back then you got full speed on torrents and file hosts after hours. But whether they shape (and to what degree) after hours does not bother me since it is clearly marketed as a shaped product.

As you said, shaping and blocking are entirely different and I want to know why they block file hosts at times.
Another thing I want to know is why after this weekends upgrades is file host downloads still so crap?
Will@Mweb said it would be better after the upgrades but it clearly is not.

Hi Rouxenator

Can you provide me with some specific examples via PM of links you are struggling with and I can have this tested.

Thank Will, I PM'd you.

BTW, Why didn't this weekends upgrades fix the problem like you said it would?

So local gaming is still shyte, one would think that local latency being stable is a given but it doesn't seem like it huh.

I have a list of about 20 servers in my favorite list, 9 of them have pings over 200, 4 have pings of 100 and the rest are normal ....... they are all different servers (iGame, Wage, etc) and the minute I switch to another account ALL servers are normal. So please tell me, why does this happen with Mweb only every single bloody day between midday and roughly 6pm?

Hi Mephisto_Helix,

Have you brought this to the attention of our Games administrators via our Gaming forum or on the MyBB Gaming thread?

Kind regards,

My torrents never get above 80 kbps. Is this normal on a 1 meg uncapped line. Even nntp downloads never get above 80 kbps.

Hi modern10,

There is many factors that can play a role in a user not getting the DL speed 1 should get. When it come to torrents speeds, they are not guaranteed due to dynamic shaping.

Also it depends on how you use your DL client, something we do not support.

What is your normal HTTP DL speed? You can do a speed test form our website and a normal HTTP download and send it to me.

Please send your MWEB account details with the info.

King regards,

Exceptional speeds here too - 300kb/s on torrents and filesonic. Very good work Mweb, thanks for fixing what ever it is you fixed.

Update 23:15: full speed ahead at 440kb/s :D

Ahh, I know someone raised the point the other day but don't know if anyting was done. I recently got bumped to a 6Meg connection via Telkom but everything has been running normally, this morning I see I'm getting a download speed of 460Kbps on my 4Mb shaped link whereas before the max was round about 400kbps. Will this be an issue or as long as we abide by the shaper it's fine even though speeds reach that high?

*Edit* Hmmm 480 now. BTW I'm happy with 4Mb and don't want the cost of 10Mb so I'm relying on Mweb to keep my account @ 4Mb

Hi @MWEBGuy and @Will
I was contacted last night by I think it was either Nathan or Dale from the Tech Team with regards to my PS3 online gaming issues
which I believe were all due to the lack of bandwidth as well as shaping
**WHICH SHOULD NOT HAPPEN FOR ONLINE GAMING OF CONSOLES**
I was told in ealier posts to post within the Gaming section but I have no idea where to post so it would be welcoming if you could provide a link to PS3 related queries that are checked by the Gaming Admin

I have to say last night I had no issues with my online gaming and it was most probably due to the addition of new bandwidth
I have however come across the ports that the PS3 uses for gaming and browsing and as you can see from the below, they are the same ports that MWEB shape on
Please note these are the REQUIRED PORTS
Playstation Network Required Ports:
TCP 80
TCP 443
TCP 5223
UDP 3478
UDP 3479
UDP 3658

Remote Play & Gaming Required Ports:
TCP 80
TCP 443
TCP 5223
TCP 9293
TCP 10070-10080
UDP 3478
UDP 3479
UDP 3658
UDP 10070

Strange... Torrents come in at 200kb/s but FileSonic only comes in at 5kb/s
Any reason for that? Why is the one shaped to oblivion and the other not?

Good Morning Rouxenator, please advise if those speeds pertain to all files downloaded from FileSonic?

Yes - I tried many files so far, each coming from different servers. They go at about 4.5 kb/s and die before they reach 500kb.

There are just some of the servers I downloaded from :
s272.filesonic.com
s273.filesonic.com
s223.filesonic.com
s204.filesonic.com

Can you please fix this?
