Nope, got full speed on my Afrihost account. Mweb is really annoying me with this, I paid for a filesonic premium account but I could not download a single file successfully this weekend. It after hours so I would expect no shaping to take place but still my downloads were between 30kb/s and 0 kb/s.

Update 8:28AM : Getting fullspeed to filesonic on Mweb at the moment - will see how long it lasts.

Update 9:39AM : Filesonic at 4kb/s

Shaping should not take place after hours, it is only during business hours when priority is given to business account user's traffic.

Currently filesonic is dead and this is unacceptable. I want solutions, not answers.

Hi hereticangel

That is correct.
There is traffic flowing between our respective networks, but the nature of this relationship is governed by an Non-Disclosure Agreement so we cannot give more details than that at this stage.

Traffic from MWeb (CT) to Telkom, which was running extremely well on Sunday (direct-peering), is now dog-slow (Monday morning).

So why don't torrents run at full speed after hours? If they're only supposed to be shaped during hours?

That's my understanding as well - which Roux seems to have missed.
Shaping I do not have a problem with - blocking I have a major problem with. Right now I cannot download anything from filesonic and that means blocking. Torrents are 50kb/s at the moment which is very acceptable considering it is shaped, so as you can see I am not being unreasonable here.

I would expect no shaping to take place.

Just saying.

What exactly?

No shaping takes place between midnight and 8am if I am not mistaken, and there really is no reason to shape traffic at those times. The point I am trying to make is blocking should not take place on a contact that is being marketed as uncapped shaped. If they want to block certain sites then it should be marketed as uncapped with blocking.

Or don't you agree with that either?

Nope, the account is shaped 24/7. Speed depends on load or peak time.

You seem to be missing this - that the accounts are shaped 24/7 (hence my torrent example).

If you're getting 4KB/s, is it blocked or shaped?

Maybe you should go read though some of the previous pages to get up to speed (or down to speed) with the whole filesonic/fileserve thing. While torrents are shaped for most of day, with speeds ranging from 20kb/s to full speed it is not the same with file hosts. For most of the afternoon they seem to be blocked - meaning you cannot establish a connection to the servers. Your download speeds are 0 kb/s because your connection is blocked. I am not the only one complaining about this and I find it unacceptable that they block when they claim to only shape.

I've read every post since my first post in here about 25 days ago. I am well aware of blocking.

What I'm unsure about is your use of "shaping" and "unshaped after hours" etc.

Shaping is different to blocking not so?

Shaping does not bother me, and at times after hours they do not shape any traffic as far as I can see - or at least that was the case a month or so ago. Back then you got full speed on torrents and file hosts after hours. But whether they shape (and to what degree) after hours does not bother me since it is clearly marketed as a shaped product.

As you said, shaping and blocking are entirely different and I want to know why they block file hosts at times.
Another thing I want to know is why after this weekends upgrades is file host downloads still so crap?
Will@Mweb said it would be better after the upgrades but it clearly is not.

FileServe working fine here, 30 - 35KB/s.

Would make sense, seeing as there's only one or two people complaining about it compared to dosens last week and prior.
