This is not the first mail I received...blizzard has sent numerous emails to verify details and so forth.
I do not have an account with any of the mails I received...

I did report it to the relevant parties and this is there feedback:

Dear XXXX

Thank you for your e-mail.

With regards to the amount of spam you received, our mail abuse department will require copies of the full headers to enable the matter to be investigated and action to be taken where possible.

The reason they request the message headers is to :

-review the RETURN PATH and FROM email address fields
-review the originating IP address and full path of the e-mail

This would allow them to :

-block the appropriate e-mail address (or advise accordingly)
-report the incident to the originating network for action

*Without the headers no further action can be taken.

***If there is a difference between the domain in the FROM field and the RETURN PATH, then the Return Path would be most effective in blocking the spam.

The internet or message headers can then be copied and pasted into a new email message to [email protected]. I have included instructions for retrieving these headers below.

To view and copy message headers in Microsoft Outlook:

1) Right click on the email and select Options
2) Next to the Section called Internet Headers, Right click on the text and click on Select All
3) With all text selected, right click on text and click Copy
4) Create a new email
5) Right click inside the email and select paste

To view and copy message headers in Outlook express:

1) Right Click on the email and select properties
2) Click on the Details tab at the top of the window
3) Under the heading Internet headers for this message, Right click on the text and click on Select All
4) With all text selected, right click on text and click Copy
5) Create a new email
6) Right Click inside the email and select paste.

Please contact us should you require any further technical assistance.

Kind Regards

I've been nagging Mweb for months about spam, but they say their filter works and they can't or won't fix anything.

Followed the link but it seems to be for Business uncapped users, Im on the Home uncapped package...
My details does not work there...

Unknown user or password incorrect.

Do I have to re-register my mailbox with the MWEB Business Webmail to select and open the mail in question, and see an option : View Full Header
because the normal MWEB Message Centre does not have this function...

<..Thanks for the feedback..>

That may be true, but even if you choose to block mail from a specific user it still doesn't do the job. ie. no filtering whatsoever.

i have not used mweb as anemail server. but is what you are saying not typical of most ISPs? for som time i have had my mail server hosted by a 3rd party. It seems far more stable and not dependant on whether i like mweb or not as my ISP.

Mweb speeds have been fantastic over the past two days. Usenet is maxing my line (384K) 24/7. Whatever you did, Mweb, please dont change it!

Eish this is slowly starting to get to me. Issues with this account for 24 days now, phone calls and tests and still having issues.

Hi Linoman

I would like to sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.
I have been informed that your query is being attended to and is currently with our engineers.

One more happy, happy person. The speeds have been ridiculously good :D Thanks guys - nice to play with real internets.

I'm suitably impressed with Gmail's spam filters - can't remember when last I had spam mail. Perhaps they should share it out.

Hi,

I understand that port 443 should not be heavily shaped, but i am accessing usenet through astraweb's ssl (443) port, and i'm getting very low speeds.
Is anyone else having similar problems? As i note that most of you are complimenting the speeds tonight :/ Even through port 80 (using giganews) the speeds are similar (~50kb/s)

Im just wondering on who's side is this problem?

Regards

Im in the Stellenbosch area, I noticed that there is an outage reported on Mwebs site in newlands. Possibly affecting me?

*Edit #2
Im connecting to astraweb and giganews at the same time and both are running at 50kb/s, giving a total of 100kb/s. So clearly shaping?

Mweb uses their mail system to contact customers. They want you to use it because it becomes a hook into staying with the company. There are so many problems with it, I don't want to use it. For example; you can't even cut and paste. It insists you use CTRL-V ?!? How silly!

Thank you MWEB Operations, I do appreciate all the excellent feedback from MWEB.

No MWEB doesn't only use their mail system to contact their customers. They have been in contact with me using my GMAIL account. Every single ISP on the planet uses the email address they give to their customers to keep them locked in. It is not only MWEB, implying that it is a down right attempt to discredit them.

If there are so many problems then stop using it, no one is forcing you to use the email account MWEB provides you. If you can only say negative things about them, then just stop using them. It is as simple as that.

If only there were some free, large-capacity, web-based email services available. Someone should ask some of the big companies like Google or Yahoo or Microsoft to consider providing such a service.
