My experience with Astraweb speed has also been good. I have noticed the odd glitch with regard to completeness, but seems a re-download of that particular part sorts it out. Pitty others don't offer a "pre-paid" data bundle...hmm or do they, better go check.

By prepaid do you mean blocks of data? The other one I've used is blockenws, helps when articles are missing from Astraweb

Yup, blocks of data. Thanks for the link, I'll keep that for a rainy day. Pricing looks much the same as Astraweb for the 200Gig block. Nice to know.

I just pissed my pants laughing. Where is the whine thread on astraweb?

Despite the Seacom fudgeup I'm on 70+ GB downloaded for the month.

Bwahahahhaaaa!

You are laughing at him, and all you could manage is 70GB in 2 Weeks - 2 WEEKS ?!

:D :D

The response will be that thats only R14/GB.

I didn't get uncapped internet so I can see how low I can get my GBs for - I got uncapped so I don't have to think about the price of GBs.

Well Mweb does serious shape p2p during the day

They seem to have increased the shaping even further during the day. Whereas before, you could keep a torrent open at a minimal speed, now the speed is so low it doesn't register.
Night time speeds are also quite pathetic now.

It doesn't fit with how they describe their product and their FTW Wall is full of denials. Maybe they are trying to drive people back to capped!
I'd like to see what pops up after EASSY lands. I will jump at a competitor ATM.

Mine was running over 100KB/s today. Maybe I was just lucky. 330MB in 42m.

I am kinda happy with mweb only after 17:30 in the afternoon and then i can only play some online games, before 17:00 the latency is so bad my ping over 200 and speed at about 0.30 download and the upload is faster than the download omw never seen that before...... after 17:30 my ping drops to 18m/s and speed rushes up back to normal and they they don't shaped lol funny stuff. PS3 & Xbox all i play with MW2

I am going to be signing up with MWEB for uncapped 384 Data Only as soon as my line and DSL "upgrade" installs are complete.

Telkom should be installing the line today...

I just seriously hope that browsing and PSN is tolerable during the day...

Browsing is fine.

Streaming video, downloads (HTTP/Newgroup/Torrent) are useless during the day on my 4MB line... they seem to fly a night though , especially after 10 - I can stream series episodes in real-time from websites

Signing up for this to check it out and not expecting much I am pleasantly surprised. I expected much heavier shaping for news servers, but was thankfully proven wrong. Besides my dodgy ADSL line, I am quite happy with the shaped "uncapped" account. It does what it says it will do, and occasional it does more than that, which I'm very grateful for. Sure speed is not consistently optimal, but that is to be expected of a shaped account.

In my mind it is not a true uncapped account, but is certainly the best value for money available on the market currently....damn I never thought I would say that of a MWEB product :) Now if we could have unshaped, 4mbps, uncapped accounts for the same price (R300.00), I would be very very satisfied

If any subscribers could comment on PSN gaming and others, like WoW, on the 384kpbs uncapped service, DURING THE DAY, I would highly appreciate.

just downloaded a new torrent last night and rebooted my router and it's flying getting 35kbps on ave on a 384 line thats the fastest i've ever had it go! peaking at 38kbps.. not sure whats happening but i'm smiling :D the torrent isnt even seeded that well yet. if this keeps up then i'll have no need for http downloads :D

i take this back ... it only seems to last a few min after rebooting my router thereafter its back to pityfull speeds :( not even getting 1.5kbps anymore even at night ! speeds are crazy slow this month compared to previous months.

the speed of torrents are so slow nowdays that it doesn't even register a speed on utorrent ... :(

I hope MWEB start using EASSY today to sort out their bandwidth constraints.

They signed a deal.. who knows how long, prob 5yrs std cntrct with cola applicable on contract yr, with certain SLA's attached where SEACOM will provide XYZ. if breached, credits will be passed.. but if mweb is "sick" of the downtime and the crap they have to deal with because of SEACOM's poor uptime, they can terminate... although will pay a certain % of the remaining contract incl. transition charges which will push them even further down the well.... so, my guess is.. there might be better options out there, if not better/cheaper financially, then from a quality perspective.. but let's be honest, all mweb is keen for is a return on their investment.. so I don't see them splashing out termination charges to fix something for their end-users when the contract does state that they cannot guarantee uptime...
