Some feedback about my connection.

1. I checked and rechecked my hardware and router; redid the wiring and connection to phone wall socket. Still no difference.

3. I then drove to my local exchange (copper to fibre-booth) and lo and behold, those idots from Telkom were working on the box!
4. Those idiots disconnected me, my analogue line and all.

I am now back at home and those guys have gone--so it seems they may have fixed the problem.

Anyway, I wish to thank Will@MWEB for being helpful and asking me to check all paths from my phone to local exchange.

:D All Seems well again

Some feedback about my connection.

1. I checked and rechecked my hardware and router; redid the wiring and connection to phone wall socket. Still no difference.
2. Called Telkom--and my line went dead in the middle of reporting to the Consultant--after waiting on the line to get through for more than 45 mins.

S

LMAO @ you driving to the actual exchange!

Definately lol @ the driving to exchange :p

Are you still getting high latency to your router though on the first hop?

It seems to have resolved the problem.

Aaaahhh, my Mweb connection is so slow... however it's not Mweb's fault as I get full line speed (depending on what I'm doing), it's Telkom's for making 4mb so expensive. News server downloads on the weekend though running at 34KB/s whereas at night during the week it runs at 52...

It seems to have resolved the problem.

Telkom wouldn't have solved that issue as the first hop is directly your pc to the router itself but a good reset or fiddling with cables definately might have. If you ever get it again ( the >1ms to router bit ) I'd suggest changing the cable from your router to your pc depending on how you connect.

I seem to be having very slow FTP speeds lately. I used to get full speed on my 4mb uncapped. Now it barely goes passed 150KB/s, I think ftp is being shaped. Http I seem to be getting full speed, but not ftp. Please can MWEB Operations look into this.

um guys. I need a bit of help here. Kaspersky did the update thing and then my internet died? Anyone else have this issue? Just stays on 'connecting through wan miniport pppoe? Someone? :(

My pleasure Smiley glad you were able to get it sorted out :)

Dear Mweb.

Half our BC2 clan has 200 plus pings tonight. Everyone who is on mweb. We cannot play our BC2 league match with these kind of pings. Some of our opponents have the same problem. Personally, my ping is fine, but then I route my BC2 traffic through webafrica and let most of the rest go through mweb.

We are going to cancel our match tonight. Please fix your network or stop shaping our gaming protocol, especially since it's only local traffic we are doing.

Anyone else getting high pings?

Hi pmurgs

We definitely aren't shaping any BC2 traffic, the latency on the link in question climbed yesterday morning as well.
I raised it with our networks team and they were able to make some adjustments to reduce this. I will discuss this with them tomorrow morning and see what can be done about this.

Why does google buffer on a sunday night?

Enjoying the uncapped but WTF is google not working? I download the file which is faster and uses more bandwidth hahaha how idiotic is that i am putting more strain on the network by downloading it :D

Also getting unusually high latency on local and international servers. This randomly happens in some early afternoons during the week but I've never experienced it at this time of night before.

I can confirm this as well, very high pings to the game servers and one of our members couldn't play either tonight.
