Line did pretty well - hitting the heady speed of 23k at peak sometime during the night. 8am rolls around and it's back down to ~0.3 - 1.0k

Requesting to be downgraded to just an email address so at least the account stays alive. Done now.

Are any of you guys having issues downloading via Firefox? I am trying to download Itunes and dropbox and both have failed a few times... I have managed to get a few other files downloaded from the garmin website (south african) with no issues.

Any suggestions?

Yep. Downloads just stop for no apparent reason.

Yep, definitely something funny going on today. Dunno if it's mweb, or futhur up the internet, but some things that are usually slow are running real fast, some things thats are usually quick are running real slow. Plus I've never seen the mweb newserver anywhere near this fast before.

Using a combo of MWEB news server and Supernews, it's been "flying" since Friday evening. Average DL speeds range between 45kBps and 55 kBps (on 512 package), so some consitancy on my side at long last. Saterday saw international news server access shaped a bit more than local (MWEB) and not really giving ideal speeds, but the combo made up for it. Unfortunately this only works with newer srticles, older stuff I can only use Supernews / Astraweb giving lower speeds. That said, today seems better on the international side of things.

Not here: news.mweb.co.za and news.saix.net is not working on this side.

Does anybody else has the same problem?

Same with me now. Should the SAIX news server even still work since no one is on the SAIX network anymore?

At 8AM zigzactly I lost about 25%line speed and it's quickly dropping to half.I predict 40% line speed by lunch..

Prophetic words even if they're my own:) 38kb/s max, now on 16kb/s = 40% line speed for both HTTP and P2P..

Hi Malachi,

If you have a problem with HTTP downloads then we need to investigate this. I can get a specialist to contact you but I'll need your MWEB details

Um, news server is dead?

Hi Adrenalin

For some reason some clients can't connect to the news server. I still need to be notified of the reasons why. I would suggest that you look into other means of downloading until the current and future status of our news service has been determined

Future status? I do not like the sound of that...

Dear Mweb Ops, may I object to your response quoted below. This is misleading. You imply that if one doesn't get reasonable speeds via the news server one may achieve reasonable speeds by alternative means. I've been trying to download with uTorrent the whole weekend and my speeds haven't topped 2KB/s ever... Essentially what it appears Mweb is selling is a browse and e-mail only account. Perhaps that's what you mean, one should download via alternative means, like one's e-mail server and one's web browser.

Kind Regards
PC

Edit : SAIX news server work on a MWEB ADSL connection? Or any others?

News server is dead. Pity, I wanted to give it a try. Least torrents are going at 70kb/s (over 4mb)

its a pity so many people seem to be having issues, my line has been awesome since friday, more than 40gbs done already and still going, setting up a fresh Q now....
