My internet keeps going down... The router just tries to synchronize all the time but cant. It's very annoying as it keeps happening in the middle of a League of Legends game.

Well to be honest, everything is fine for me. Except for the damn torrenting. It is so erratic that it makes me want to drink more! :wtf:

Blistering. Download started @ 19:45.

2 hours later, corrupt file.

Looks like news server went to down for the hour, but is up now again. But I am getting really slow speed. Is NNTP its own protocol or does it use HTTP?

NNTP is heavily shaped, considered to be peer2peer by the MWeb shapers. HTTP is unshaped apart from site considered to be file sharers.

ah, i see, so hotfile and so are shaped! the thing is i am supposed to be on unshaped, i am sure it will improve tonight.

Though some users get full line speed and others get 20 KBps. It's not consistent.

I get 20 Kbps, I don't mind being shaped but ffs I would like to use my 4 meg line a bit more.

Of course I can just use hotfile, rapidshare etc. for some reason I can get 400 down with them?

Since Mweb is ignoring our complaints I think it's fair to try bypass the shaping. The worst they can do is cancel the account. Oh wait, I did but they insist keeping unhappy customers for an extra month.

Last night I had a good night from Astroweb... I was getting a 100k a second... and I think it got faster as it got later.

that is the best I have had in a while.. I miss April .... when this all started I would get Full speed in the early hours of the morning. I remmeber my first weekend uncapped. I was unshaped for the whole time, even easter weekend the entire 4 days was unshaped.

the good old days.

They still give full speed after midnight and before 7am, so its just like the good old days. The upgrades they did this month really has made a big improvement and at most I was inconvenienced for about 20 hours.

Those having rubbish speeds feel free to leave, more bandwidth for us :p
im having a nice time on mweb post upgrade, filehosts i use were running at full speed during the day yesterday, torrents ran at 200kbs+ after nine, speed increasing as it got later, latency back to normal..... streaming was snappy aswell, all in all well worth paying for, Keep it up mweb :D

Honestly I am quite happy with MWEB, I know that the sudden increase in volume had degraded the Telkom side of the network in certain areas(including mine), but with the massive amount Telkom charges for IPC and telephone lines they need to upgrade the exchanges not blame the ISP's for using what the paid for.

lol. Keep blaming Telkom, it's the easy excuse that everyone believes.

I think the benefit from the upgrade is only applicable on some of the previously shaped service - like torrents, rapidshare and other files share hosts. Users of legacy technologies like IRC DCC, BBS, Beltel and other deprecated services might not get the full effect.

No they don't. Maybe for you, but for many of us not.
