MWEB Uncapped Subscribers Feedback

My web pages keep on timing out and I sometimes have to reload a page a couple of times before I can view it.

Browsing hasn't been too awful for me, but everything else is crawling. Steam has been downloading the latest TF2 update for three days now and P2P hasn't reached full speed in days.

Here's my uTorrent graph from around midnight till this morning. The sharp drop off was at exactly 8am.

I'm on MWEB 384 uncapped and it's been awful for a few weeks now. I've only ever downloaded torrents overnight, and the speeds used to be functional (above 25kB/s). Now, browsing is much slower than normal, http downloads don't come in at full speed and torrents sometimes don't go above 10kB/s after hours. The 1.4gb documentary I'm trying to download is on 49% after 3 all night download sessions (and it's well seeded). I've checked that the right ports are forwarded, and nothing on my pc is limiting the download speed. Getting frustrating.

I'm moving to Canada once I'm finished studying. $100 a month for 50mbps and a 175gb cap sounds good lol..

That doesn't sound very good, I'm sure you can find better in terms of cap at least. But then, I'd be fine with 175GB so might as well get it cheaper and faster with a cap.

Sounds silly, 50mbps line and a cap??? Crazy. I'd hit 175GB in a few days :)

You can't claim that somewhere in the vicinity of 200gb isn't a reasonable monthly usage limit. Any user who needs more than that is almost certainly pirating stacks of games and hd movies. Not many people buy over 10 games a month from steam, direct2drive etc.

There are plenty of uncapped internet offerings, but most big companies do have usage limits. I would never download close to 175gb either, and only Rogers offers such fast speed, so you either take the cap or get slower internet.

very very slow now.

Yeah. For me too. This is all getting a little tiring now. Just trying to work is an absolute schlep.

Im moving into my new place at the end of this month. Im gonna do what I have been doing with Mweb ... which is being patient. But if by year end things dont improve, I'm canceling.

Internet is basically broken right now. Even basic web pages take ages to load. Downloading youtube with orbit is only getting around 14kB/s. Wtf mweb. 40kB/s is nothing compared to the usage faster accounts can get. Is it so hard to protect us 384 users?

Did some speedtest.net tests. Ffs mweb!

Newlands server:

London server:

MWEB failure tonight...can't even load GOOGLE.

4mb (more like 2kb/s)

Stupid mweb, i really wish i had your FUP with ANYONE else, and i would move.

ANYONE.

Just out of interest, how many users here with problems are using the an mweb router?

Had to replace mine on Friday (mweb support centre said that they would not replace lightning damage) and have found that torrent speed has gone up (hit above 30kb on a 384 line which had never happened before) and that my connection to psn is more stable (Deamon Souls now instanly connects and stays connected). However, web stability and random connection drops have been insane (sitting at 4-5 drops a day, with friday something terrible).

Could the mweb routers be prioritising traffic to thier system and limiting speed? not that tech savey, but have had them remote into my router before, and given that they hold the admin passwords, is changing traffic priority that difficult?

Anyway, a conspiracy theory for all to ponder

I seem to fine here (touch wood) - with the exception of news.mweb.co.za - everything else running well - PS3 Demo Downloads; http downloads; normal browsing; YouTube Happy

NNTP using Supernews has been running brialliantly the whole weekend. There was a brief loss of service on Saterday, besides that all good so far. Nice one MWEB keep it up :)

Yesterday everything including http was super slow. Fine now.

In general or on the pirate networks?

Newsgroups

Getting a 100 now - I think MWEB play round robin with their shaping. i.e. distribute uses into shaping groups - apply shaping, when to many users in group complain, move shaping to next group for awhile..
