We are delaying the activation of afterhours shaping policies this evening, please bear with us while we conduct these tests. We continually strive to improve our levels of service.

It would be great to have a more clear picture of why you would be doing this? And why not notify users beforehand?

As I’m sure many of you are aware we are working closely with our vendors to isolate an issue which is causing high latencies for World Of Warcraft players. At the request of our vendors in order to conduct further tests this evening we will be delaying the activation of afterhours shaping policies. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Kind regards
MWEB Operations

And no that isnt something I made up they actually said that two pages back, so we are getting shaped/rapped because they wanted to fix WOW problems, so stuff the 99.9% of there other clients who couldnt care less about wow, WHY DOES THIS HAVE TO HAPPEN ON A FRIDAY NIGHT AND NOT A WEDNESDAY OR TUESDAY NO ONE KNOWS!!!!

60mins to download a 15mb file via http. A frikken legit file, going at 4KB/s on a 4meg line on a Friday night! WTF???? And no I don't care about WOW

This is BS!!! they could have done this during the week. Why wait for the weekend when they KNOW most people are waiting to download????!!! I mean really its almost 21:00 and im 4.3kb/s on my NZB's. Absolute waste of money!!

Who the hell does tests on something when they know a lot of people will be using it? I would get fired at work if I pulled a stunt like this!

I wouldn't be surprised if the WoW story is something they made up, similarly to blaming neotell for the downtime the other day.

Hi Hambone

Please advise me if I am correct in assuming that your main concern is downloads from our news server?

Regards,
MWEB Operations

You are incorrect, I am referring to:

1) The poor experiences on well seeded torrents during the day, to the extent that they are unusable at all. 15kB/s is not acceptable on a 4096Kbps line.
2) The shoddy latencies generally, rendering streaming services such as grooveshark and YouTube useless and constantly buffering.
3) Poor late night speeds, no where near the service I was lead to assume would be the status quo at the products inception.

Exactly, this should have been scheduled with the vendors for post midnight (our time). Running this stuff during times that people are actively using the Internet, especially for something as low priority for the *majority* of customers as WoW is, is just plain irresponsible.

Eish - even my YouTube is buffering on my 4 meg line!

That said, at least they are actively working on the WoW problem (I don't play WoW but the lesson they learn could carry over to other online gaming issues).

Another wasted day on MWoW's rubbish service. I'm still hopefully that my newsserver connection problem is resolved soon, otherwise I'll have to cancel.

I do hope they do somethign about the ridiculous shaping of p2p and newsservers.

top speed today was 9kb/s,it's stuck at 2kb/s now.sigh, guess i should go back and play dragonAge: origins because BFBC2 takes 20min just to update my stats and just when it's done it says connection to EA has been lost.I'm starting to wonder if it was a good idea to to use mweb as my main isp..

Bloodhound are you able to test this on another account perhaps and have you checked EA forums etc to see if there might be a game related reason for this? I've never had a problem with stats updates myself. If you can confirm its definitely only happening to you on an MWEB account we can investigate further.

Jeez guys, Mweb are trying to help solve issues, give them a f**king break! If it was a problem affecting you I'm sure you'd be happy that they were tackling it.

Agreed. Also I just got in, checked how my NNTP is doing, and to my surprise my speed is off the rails! Thank you MWEB for the boost, I hope it last a long time :D
