Yes, I have emailed technin@mweb but this did not help. I also tried it on two other accounts and it does seem that broken files are cached. Will check again tonight and if it still is not working I will PM you.

Why does the proxy cache broken files to begin with ?

We're not able to see a problem in this area, which is why I need your examples to replicate and verify your findings. If I'm able to do so then I can take the matter further. Please could you PM me some examples of specific files you've had a problem with in the past and some detail of how you downloaded them, was it direct http / ftp, with or without a download manager, which browser did you use, etc. This will give me a starting point for fault replication.

On a more serious note, I think it fails because it cannot calculate the correct size, it caches, and then keeps the broken file - probably because there is no MD5 hashing verification being done .

BTW, MWEB - shot for the good speeds.. done 180 Gig for Dec , and I am happy.
750 gigs in 9 months now :) tx a lot

Thanks for the suggestion Anthropoid, I'll make sure this gets taken into account when we get the examples from Rouxenator.

Glad to hear you're enjoying the service so far - happy holiday surfing!

Kind Regards
Will

The proxy should inspect the HTTP 200 response header to get the content length and then discard the file if the transfer stops and the size does not match the bytes received - simple.

Oh, and I do use torrents for everything I can, but some stuff is on HTTP only.

Most websites work perfectly fine, but one or two seem to take forever to load, or download from.

Example, getting daemon tools or astroburn takes forever to load and when a download starts, it only goes at a maximum of 10KB/s on a 4mb line.

Yeah and he's now spamming the ADSL ISP thread with new threads...

I see so, lets hope for a swift ban and an IP check to find the nublet who is "smurfing"

I really wish I could enjoy in the fun with everyone else, but for me, every upgrade only brings more misery.

Please don't forget to PM me those examples, also am I correct in understanding from your comment about using torrents for most things that the files you are referring to that are problematic are from one-click hosting sources?

You numpty! You we're supposed to cancel and go Openweb?

I have, waiting for cancellation period to run out.

I have to say though that if I had more interest in HTTP type traffic the MWEB product would be brilliant. For my NNTP use though, it is not so much.

Why are the Steam downloads so slow. I have a 4MB line and it sits at about 50kb/s, it used to be 400kb/s, and this is with Steam downloading from the WebAfrica Steam server, so it should be a local connection?

I bought a 8GB Steam game yesterday and finished the download this morning, and I got 4mbs all the way.

Whatever you guys are doing mweb KEEP IT UP! my torrents have been running like a dream.... 120kbs all day today and 300+ at night, latencies have also been excellent, my torrents have always been fast at night but im noticing nice improvements in daytime speed generally.

You better touch some wood and quickly.
My torrenting is well, how can I say it 'non existent'

torrent (no) speed

.. non existant torrent speeds this morning; seems to have started just past 04h00.

We seem to be having a problem with one of our links, "MWEB IPC services in the All Areas area will be Slow due to a Browsing and Email - International problem".

Shaping rules where adjusted to accomodate this, could explain the sudden decrease in speeds.
