MWEB Uncapped Subscribers Feedback

Hi Iwojima

We regret loosing you as a customer. If your HTTP Downloads are not at the speeds that you would prefer them to be for a shaped account, your only other option would be to get a capped or unshaped account.

Kind regards
MWEB Operations
No hard feelings. I had 8 months of ideal performance and then 2 of progressively worsening performance. Unfortunately your Unshaped Uncapped is a little pricey (more than twice what I've been paying) so I'll be giving another ISP a try and see if their setup is a little more balanced.

OpenWeb Gold is only a R100 more a month and I've heard good things so that's my first stop.

How I went from cancelling my 4mb shapped account with Mweb to getting an 4mb uncapped unshaped I don't know! I can't wait to get home and start using it.

Seems like MWeb is the same as when I left it, guess thats the sevice they are selling, pity...

I can say one thing my gaming latency has droppe don average 15-20ms on all my games..
Keep it up MWEB, I am also yet to see any 'shaping' / throttling of news on my account

Just a pitty I didn't get the EU version of Demon's Souls, stuck with a crappy US version and a somewhat high ~300ms ping when invading. I love invading. I love messin' peoplez stuff up lol.

video streaming

So barring Youtube, is video streaming on a 4MB Uncapped Shaped Product a no no?

On the 1st and 2nd Feb streaming vids off gametrailers.com was magical, since then it's gone to poop. I also cant seem to pull any ISO's at more than 100KB from international hosts, local flies at full tilt also a change from the beginning of the month when it matched international speeds.

I am sorry but so far the only thing better on this account is HTTP BROWSING, Youtube and the other sites still buffer. This on a 4mb uncapped UNSHAPED account? Ridiculous!

Hi Linoman

Are you still encountering problems; streaming?

Kind regards,

Downloads from the local Ubuntu mirror which have always come down at 38kBps are all over the place tonight; dropping to 11kbps, only peaking at 35kBps.

Edit: I suppose running traces while downloading from the same site is not all that smart ... :)

Edit: I thought that za.archive.ubuntu.com resolved to a LOCAL address... ?

Hi MWEB Operations,

Yes I am and it is terribly intermittent not to mention doesn't leave a good taste in my mouth. As I thought an account 3 times more expensive would work better? Should I change my router and/or get my line tested with Telkom? As I truly can't believe this R1999 account performs the same as my R539 account

I hope you're not paying for the test account. It should be faster.

This isn't a test account but a full blown account that I have to start paying for at the end of Feb!

Eish that's not good. I hope they either refund you or improve your service. It could well be the line at fault.

Incedentally, I've noticed a lot heavier shaping on torrents than previously. Haven't really been using them on my local machine for a while.

@MWEB_OPS

It's 22:43 and according to iftop on my wireless interface i'm bouncing between 20KB -> 50KB while attempting to stream a video off gametrailers.com, isnt the shaping supposed to be relaxed at this point or is mweb squeezing every drop as much as possible before upgrading your international capacity? I can understand the shaping during your peak traffic times, but c'mon, 20KB on a 4MB account just aint cricket... Feb 0[1,2] the service was great ....

Latency issues tonight ...... pings are hovering around 90 instead of the usual 30 on iGame servers. Changing to an IS account, the pings are normal. Anything up?

Updates from za.archive.ubuntu.com seem to have stabilized now. Sitting at 39.2kBps.

Sigh, net still useless at the moment. I really wonder what the cause if this is a mweb or a telk

if got unshaped, then i think its telkom, most guys with unshaped with mweb run there max speed of there package, not seen guy that does not.

Hi Linoman

Thank you for the feedback, I will investigate why you are having slow browsing speeds and will provide you feedback shortly.
