MWEB Uncapped Subscribers Feedback

Seems like I have the same has happen to me, certain details are only, asked, I have the same issues, at least getting at 45kbps, on the new server, but speed has been bouncing around the time

Funny ... aren't you the main "Stop Complaining Whiner"

I never complained because people stipulate their issues or problems, I had an issue with the rude remarks and as well as their attitudes.

I am doing tests and give feedback, thats a total difference than whining and trolling this thread like you did now. I am happy with Mweb mostly, but as I stated it seems the P2P are too heavily shaped. I already determined the news server speed depends mostly on the file you download, there is no real issue with that service if the file is properly cached, thus there seem to be an issue with the Mweb upstream provider or partner or the Mweb cache system. As far as torrents go, there is an huge issue most of the time.

They eventually come around when reality sets in.

It seems Mweb releases the shaper for a while and then does it double to compensate. Nothing ever stable.

Yep, seems to me they arrived in drones now? :)

Well, I'm giving this one last shot and hoping to get a reply from Will or Mwebguy.

Mweb (shaped uncapped 4mb line)

Afrihost (also shaped but capped account, up to 10mb/s account)

Browsing is horrible on Mweb. Can't even think of streaming. Also, I have one torrent downloading, on mweb around 400 B/s (I kid you NOT)

Obviously the problem is not on my side, its on the account. Yet so many Mweb techs have said they can't see nothing wrong and just escalate it. Probably escalated all the way up to heaven by now. Latency in WoW without the wtfast by mweb, is around 5k+ and funny enough when i use wtfast, I can't even log in.

Edit: Just some more info

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 10014 kbps 1019 kbps
Line Attenuation 23.5 db 10.0 db
Noise Margin 18.45 db 15.5 db

Hi Latro
Could you send me your MWEB details please so that I can have a look into this for you.
Also please note that shaping policies are different on capped and uncapped products.

Regards
MWEB Guy

Not to sure how a capped account is shaped? Surely not...

Afaik the free 1Gb account from Afrihost is shaped, I might be wrong though. But I can assure you that you certainly get shaped capped accounts. Just look at WA's complete packages.

Not bad if considering during this test there was a 2nd computer streaming media from the net.

Hi thanks for the reply Mweb Guy. Have Pm'ed you the details.

Also please note that shaping policies are different on capped and uncapped products.

Thanks, that actually makes sense. Have not thought of it like that.

The morning started with promise but NNTP speeds degraded throughout the day. I think it's time to accept that Mweb has changed their shaping policies on NNTP. How can it be that everyone has 'n constant great speed for 8 months and then at the start at this month it went to ****, but hey we have shaped accounts so really we can't do anything about it. It would've been nice if mweb were more honest about it.

My speed test results:

Anyone notice how youtube is heavily shaped now. In the begining i never buffed any movie clip even 720hd, 1080hd buffed but was still fine to wait. Now it barely even wants to start up. and all clips are buffering.

I hope mweb knows that its only a matter of a new ISP coming with a better service for eveyone to change over. I myself have no hesitation to move to a new isp when one comes with new and improved product/service.

Just out of curiosity, that mweb support guy i see replying around here on these topics. I'd like to know if any of the stuff that gets said around here regarding what people are sharing about their internet experience. If that actually gets in touch with the big bosses at mweb who make desitions?. I mean mybroadband.co.za is a very well known site in south africa. there are alot of uses here that make up alot of the ISP's client base.

No, I don't believe any changes are made and any increase in shaping is deliberate to the T, made by Conehead himself.

Was around the same time mine went balls up and i am in durban mweb guy knows me very well by now.....

Are any MWeb reps willing to respond to what I asked here? Even just a "We have no comment" would be fine, just some acknowledgement that this was read by someone at MWeb?

There's also the response in waiting that's been with legal for a week + few days now about the ASASA ruling. I guess that will not happen, though now I can safely say that at least openweb had the balls to respond without giving it the carpet treatment. Maybe it is time to move over to gold, there at least you get closure and not STFU it's with X ...green, yellow and black might be a fitting theme here.

:e
due to deranged page number as thread opened, I see that Asy1um8 was replied to. Still an official response to the ruling and real one to that would be nice :)

MWEB Guy, you managed to figure out the IRC problem I'm having?

Hi Decado, We have failed to replicate your problem with IRC; I have logged a techspec callback inorder for them to obtain all the information needed to assist in the resolution of your query.
