MWEB Uncapped Subscribers Feedback

Things are marginally better now. We'll see how long this lasts - still getting poor HTTP speeds though. Downloading an update at 60KB/s. Pathetic.

This thread is starting to remind me of the old Digichilli thread.

Newsservers flying, but Http downloads are very very slow. I did contact MwebGuy on Twitter and he reauthorised my account.

Download speeds have extreme fluctuations. Is this because of the DPI causing problems? I see no other reason why the speed isnt reliabe/stable...

I mean, being on a 4mb uncapped option with a 1mb line, surely it should be a STABLE 100kb/s, not fluctuating between 60-100kb/s?

Well after still not hearing back from Any MWEB person with regards to my account and after submitting speed tests, screen shots and the like I have now signed up and payed for a one month trial with OpenWeb gold 4096. They just sms'ed me my log in details a few minutes ago. This after only signing up and paying for it 2 hours ago! Pretty darn good service so far. Tried my MWEB when I got home. Still only getting between 25KB/s and 70KB/s downloading from iTunes. Youtube is erratic. Some videos download "ok", others just buffer all the time.
Gonna be signing off and signing in with my Openweb Gold details. Wish me luck guys!!

the videos that download ok, have been cached locally already. international has been screwed for a month now

Be sure to tell us what backbone you are on.

I also bought an OpenWeb 1GB account to test... it works really well. Will probably switch - just waiting for M-Web to send me my cancellation form. I guess the cancellations department must be busy, since I requested it over a day ago and haven't heard back.

I am jealous. Good luck with the GOOD SERVICE PROVIDER.

Could someone please tell me how to cancel once you're with MWeb?

I'm sticking with my OpenWeb account.

1) People actually know what's going on with my account
2) People actually respond to you within a few hours rather than between 1 or 2 days.
3) There's actually some desire to solve your problems
4) I can at least expect reasonable speeds (which, believe it or not, include streaming video without wanting to gouge your eyes out).

Please assist.

Edit: I've e-mailed both [email protected].z and [email protected]

I was told that signing up with MWeb would be pro-rata and that they would bill one month in advance. Instead, I get billed R1112.77. R34.77 pro-rata, R539 for June and R539 for July. Now, maybe it's just my imagination but isn't that being billed two months in advance? I honestly wonder if I'll ever see the R539 for July again.

Thank you, MWeb, for bringing uncapped internet access to the South African consumer. Unfortunately it's a sub-standard product that fails, miserably, at basic internet usage that doesn't even make use of torrents or news servers! Ridiculous.

Hi Lycanthrope

I will get someone to contact and assist you with regards to your query.

Kind regards
MWEB Guy

World IPv6 Day On June 8

Hi Will/Mwebguy

To use ipv6 , we need to make use of tunnel brokers in the UK/US etc.
these install a ipv6 over ipv4 tunnel, which might be SSL as well, to tunnel ipv6 teredo traffic, to their servers, and then breaking out into the ipv6 portion of the internet.
the tunnels will make use of methods, which some ISP's see as "bypassing shaping", to establish a secure tunnel to their breakout servers...

are we safe of trying to play around with ipv6 and testing the new systems, without being labelled as "bypassing your shaping"
I tried to get the info out of [email protected] etc, but i seem to be getting a generic copy and paste response everytime.

Regards
Janneman

I love it how the "MWEB Guy" chooses who he wants to response to and doesn't actually address the real issue at hand.

Live streaming was working just fine this morning until 8:20am and is now throttled heavily along with other services. Thanks for the smoke and mirrors .. maybe one day you will address us correctly as clients and at the very least stipulate what changes you have and or planning to do.

You cannot cheat your clients .. it might work now but karma is a bitch and you can expect it to come back at you.
