Hi DeadCore,

Do you have any automatic updates set on your PC that starts at a certain time? What time does your street lights go on at night? Do you have sprinkler system that switches on at night?

How many PC's connect to the router at night? Do you have wireless security on your router? (Maybe someone connects at night to your router)

Do you perhaps have an Ethernet cable running next to fluorescent lights?

There can be so many factors that can answer this trend. Please provide me with your MWEB account details and I'll investigate further.

Kind regards,

MWEB Guy

Only saw the post now :) @MwebGuy, Your investigation will reveal all that? You are really it stretching now? Ran out of excuses.

some of these responses are totally classic... almost retarded if you going to believe them!

thanks for the lollies :D

Doh. My bad...I should learn to read properly. :o For some reason i thought he was referring to lights in the house - maybe your phone/network cable is running too close to a fluorescent light which could cause interference.

Street lights...that's pushing it! :)

Actually you'd be surprised, I have seen it all in the last few years :D If your connection is actually dropping (as in losing sync) at the same time every day then these are genuine factors that need to be considered, depending on where copper cables are running and how the router is being powered. Things like stoves pulling more current at dinner time, pool pumps and electric fences turning on, someone plugging a hairdryer into the multiplug your router is on (true story) could all play a role. I even heard of a case from the technicians at Nology (Billion supplier) where the floodlights turning on at a nearby sports stadium every evening seemed to be causing a power dip that would drop the customers connection.

So if i have a UPS and your router plugged in to the UPS, my connection would be more stable? seeing that it would even out all those dips and surges the high school across the street causes on the power grid?

See!!! Told you, that's why I wear this here tin foil hat!!!

Let me try again :o :

Any information yet on this stupid Gmail chat disconnection issue?

I just remembered that I think I experienced it from non-MWEB locations too, so the first thing is to confirm if it is specific to MWEB users.

why i asked , i cant even load gmail , nor chat when my connection is slow aka , Throttled IS account, which gives about 30kbs.

can only load basic html lol

I had someone test this from our test bench last night for several hours - it worked perfectly and did not disconnect. I use gtalk myself and have not noticed any issues. I really can't think of any reason from our side that would cause this, can anyone experiencing the problem perhaps confirm that it's isolated to their MWEB account?

Why does any download from the mweb mail server time out if use chrome?
is it just me or just the 3 computers i have used to test it on?

Well it would certainly be one possible solution if you were experiencing a power related problem that was causing your router to lose sync. I have seen routers behave very erratically and struggle to sync due to being under powered, often caused by faulty/incorrect AC adapters, or an overloaded multiplug.
It still doesn't eliminate the possibility of electrical interference caused by, for example, an overhead phone line running too close to an electric fence - which is not an uncommon scenario in Gauteng, but those are factors that are certainly on the more rare end of the scale.

If you are having a strange problem like losing sync at the same time every day it's certainly worth considering all of these options as this is a low level connectivity issue that could not be caused by something on the MWEB network (as much fun as it is to blame us for everything :D)

If you're talking about Message Centre then there are some known compatibility issues with Chrome, which are on the development backlog to be addressed.
