My gametrailers videos buffer every 5 seconds. Did a traceroute to www.mweb.co.za

Please provide me a traceroute to the site where you watch your gametrailers. Also, Pm me your MWEB account details to look at it further.

I just got a free trial from MWeb today and trying it out for the first time this evening. Its an uncapped DSL with 4mb line. I have to tell you that the speed it pathetic thus far. I cannot stream a simple video from Apple and pages load half. I put back my Web Africa account and was able to stream the same video, browse and download a 200mb file at 412kbps - MWeb if this is the speed im gonna get then you can forget about my application!!!

Sorry MWeb I just cant take this dialup speed. I'll stick with WebAfrica thank you very much. they might be more expensive but I dont have to wait minutes for pages to load - turn that time into money and they become alot cheaper - bye

Getting worse by the week. It's not the speed I'm worried about, that's fine. It's these God dam intermittent outages that last a few minutes then things go back to normal. I then come and rant on the 1167 page deep thread about my poor connection and by the time someone looks into it I look like a dwis because everything is back to normal WTH?
 
well I've just streamed the Apple celebration Event for the past 35mins and full screen and not a single hiccup using WebAfrica... Im going to put MWeb settings back and see..... Will let ya all know.

Confirm that the trial account is also 4mb... your post above is note clear as it could be just your line that is 4mb.
 
okay im back.... Ive added the settings to my modem, restarted etc etc. YES it is a 4mb line and ive also tried with @mweb.co.za. Heres my review.

Pages : Webpages are not loading full, some images load halfway then it stop - local and international sites (Apple.com, CNN, etc etc). Some pages just pop open fully then you refresh and it struggles again.

Video : I cannot get streaming video to even start. When it does start then there is a lag between audio and video. I cannot get any Apple.com video to play decent. (on my WebAfrica account I just watched over an hour of the celebration of Steve Jobs without gettign stuck once - in addition to emails, chats and a small download coming through)

Chats : Skype doesnt show me being online.

Speedtest.net : page doesnt open

Browsers : Im using Safari, Firefox, Chrome - all the latest updated and on a Mac.

I know this is a test account, but there is no way I will make an order if even the test account reminds me of a 56K dialup. I havent even attempted a download. MWEBGuy I appreciate your efforts to check what the problem is but what Im afraid of is will an MWeb account let me down just when I need it the most? WebAfrica hasnt.

If there are any other settings you might think i need to change please let me know. But for now Im headed back to my old account cos I have work to do. I have 7days to be wowed.
 
Id just like to add: Local browsing seems to be extremely fast but international is horribly slow. i can load 10 local sites before an international page opens.

This was my exact experience on the trial acc as well after the Seacom issue, non-trial accounts do perform better tho...

My first 2 days on mweb trail account was also a bit shaky but not nearly as bad as what your getting. After letting MWEB Guy check my account he was able to sort everything and it was smooth sailing for the rest of my trail time. The only real problems I've experienced with mweb so far has been during the seacom failure.

I used to be on openweb and all in all I'm really glad that I moved over to mweb. Much better performance during the day than openweb offer.
 
I couldn't handle MWEB.. I was with them for 2 months, such a waste of time an money!
Openweb gold FTW!
Perfect for gaming, browsing, downloading, and work :D
 
I using MWeb connection today to see how it goes..... I need to upload a file to Box.net which I use for clients to access - its taken 5mins to login.

Come on MWeb - is this what the connection is going to be like. I wouldnt want to have to phone a techie all the time for him to check my settings....

So far, not so impressed.
