If you are looking at getting a Q6600 and overclocking, then I would recommend getting one from prophecy, for R100 extra they will garauntee you a Q6600 with Q0 stepping which clocks up like a monster.

Most places(if not all) now supply G0 stepping quads.

Ok, sticking my nose in, but here is what I would suggest:

Isonic Omega Modular 600W (brilliant yet cheap PSU)
8800GT, with a good third party cooler, OC and you've basically got yourself GTX performance.
Go cheaper on the case and get a decent Motherboard mate. (Plenty decent cases for much less)

P.s. Prevent yourself from being raped and shop around. Those prices are far from stellar!

I know the isonics are CHEAP but i haven't been able to find any reviews on it. So in your price range for PSU's there are a lot of good reputable PSU's.

Agree on the mobo...if your willing to fork out about R1150 you can get yourself an Asus P5K which is a P35 chipset and OC's incredibly well.

And nothing wrong with the case...but for that money maybe look into the antec 900 gaming chassis. Excellent box.

EDIT: And lastly after you get your quote from prophecy get a comparative quote from DigitalSAonline(or PM Thinice on the systemshock.co.za forums) and include prophecy's quote. His prices are excellent and his service so far has been awesome. I highly recommend him.

Looking at at the 900 case at Antec's site, the specs are awesome but I'm not so sure I like the design.

A friend of mine is running the Isonic 600w no probs. I personally think it's good value for money.

The Antec 900 has got some funny places for dust and the fans should've come out with dust filters. No big deal though

They're silent dude.

Thanks, but the GT cards available at prophecy are not brands I know of, that's the cheapest card from XFX, I can only purchase some items at the end of December when stock arrives so I'll wait till then.

Go for the mushkins or even some OCZ DDR2 800 Platinum sticks which are also very cheap ATM and awesome. Don't think prophecy stocks them though. The extra money is uneccessary.

If your willing to spend R400 odd bucks on a cooler then rather go for the thermalright ultima 90 Which is pretty much the best bang for buck cooler out there and is only bettered by its big brother the Thermalright 120 ultra extreme.

What MrE is trying to say is that all the boards are manufactured by Nvidia and then the "brands" pretty much only put their sticker on afterwards.
Inno(which prophecy sells) is a reputable brand overseas..we just don't know about them.

And i would stick with that coolermaster igreen 600W. Its an awesome PSU with very stable volts and delivers. Also maybe look at this one Aerocool ZeroDBA 620 (which is the one i got for myself )

I'm in no rush right now, I'll only be making a purchase around January, I just need to make sure that when I Pay R10000 for an upgrade I won't get raped

A month or two back i got an Asus P5K, E6550,Coolermaster Extreme Power 550w i think it is and a Coolermaster Hyper TX CPU cooler, all from prophecy. Pretty decent price for everything.

I also just got me 2gb of OCZ Platinum Rev2 ram and a BFG Tech 8800GTS 320.

Bought the GFX card just before they released the 8800gt, my bad but i am happy.

And I think that this is a pretty decent system for not so much money.

I shop around and around and around and around again before i make up my mind, look for bargains here and there, its the best way to go

igreen R908.42 - Isonic R519.84 = R388.58 Saving.

Again, a saving without sacrificing anything as it's a brilliant PSU.
You won't see any performance improvement with the more expensive PSU, as is the situation with the Ram.
