Hi folks

Due to our move to the new dedicated server I can unfortunately not give you our traffic stats for May, but it looks fairly similar to April (daily traffic). I can however inform you that we have had a rather busy two days in June

I can also inform you that we have had the most ‘registrations per day’ yesterday: 30!
We usually get around 10 per day (give or take a few), so this is a significant jump. Great to have all these new guys as members. Lets hope one of them can challenge IC for post count (it is not impossible…look at Schumacher and Alonso :D).

Broadband Internet is certainly a topic that is going to enjoy increasing attention, and we can therefore expect continued interest in MyADSL.

I hope to bring you a full rundown at the end of June.

Over a gig per day! (average) :eek: It's great to see MyADSL continue to grow at such an astonishing rate though I hope your new hosting company doesn't come beating down your door rpm :)

Nay, methinks me dost protest lightly - it was indeed before ic joined, not "since"...:D
 
Are these accurate?

Not sure how all this is measured exactly (read: not even the foggiest) but i noticed in Off Topic http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=21661 that some (all?) of the members on iBurst are having difficulty voting because they all have the same IP address. Does this not maybe have a similiar effect on hit counts, i.e. could it actually be higher?

New Record made today (Sunday)

Most users ever online was 544, 05-05-2005 at 11:23 AM.

And so our strength grows.

I wonder if Telkom is gets nervous when they see these stats?
 
I don't they do - they just see we thought one of their services was the best option in SA and go on ranting and ravong about it - but when we go and complain they think of us as a group of crazy people
 
SuperAntMD, no, the post count gets worked out by counting :eek: the actual number of posts a person has made. The voting filters out multiple votes per IP address. The reason why they do that is so that anonymous users not registered with the site yet, also have a chance at voting (and not go through the schlep of registering)

Unfortunately, it has it's drawbacks (as per the thread you mentioned)

A huge leap in the record, occurring on a Saturday night, in the early hours of the morning? Did MyAdsl get some significant overseas coverage or something?

Freeek: If you consider that it is mostly text it is not difficult to imagine how much information is being shared here. The more the better!

depending if rpm has a robots.txt in place to avoid something like this, it is possible, but simultaniously? no... I doubt that VERY strongly.

If rpm wants, he could easily record the referrer to how they go here. So if I place a link to www.mybroadband.co.za from www.noone.com, the referrer would pop up as www.noone.com. That way he can see where he gets the hits from.
 
Unlikely that bots will affect the "online" user count for Invision. Unless googlebots each have unique accounts on this site...!

The BB typically uses the number of unique "login/cookies" seen to display the "most online" count. Whatever we've seen as most online, is likely to be the most unique online users...

I would guess the hacking announcement to be the source of it. Those security sites are usually pretty popular so that could have been it. It also seems to co-incide with the time of the traffic spike. rpm check your referring sites for www.zone-h.org and see if theres high numbers coming from there.

If you think thats alot imagine what a slashdotting would do :eek:
