I've got a BMW System 6 and a Shoei GT-Air. GT-Air wins hands down. The BMW is incredibly noisy and feels weak and brittle. You can't ride with the System's visor up without terrible wind noise because the air feeds into open gaps (2x1cm) funnelling the wind into your ears, you can't ride with the mouth vent open without terrible wind noise.

I'd be VERY reluctant to buy another BMW System helmet.

6 and 7 are made by different companies, so any pros/cons of the old one may not be relevant anymore

I wasn't aware of that, thanks! It's a pity one can't test a helmet before buying.

That's exactly what I will be doing with the BMW otherwise I wouldn't buy it.

Never ever risking (another brand) again without testing it first.

BMW being BMW will be pretty accommodating I'm sure.

Cheesus the N1 into Cape Town is an abomination and made worse so for the "bikers" on it.

Decided this morning to opt for the N1 over the N2 just for a change of scenery.

It was an absolute parking lot by the time I hit Goodwood Prison and while doing a leisurely but well paced 45 km/h odd between still standing traffic this muppet in what I suspect was an MT-07/09 comes up behind me and I move out of the way for him pretty much immediately.

Not even a wave or a head bob and immediately he starts revving at a car a couple of meters in front of us for infringing on his god given right to proceed with haste...meanwhile I come through the very same gap a few seconds later on a much wider bike with no drama at all.

Hardly a hundred meters ahead, which he covered in mere seconds of course, there is someone who was already indicating and changing lanes while he was still growling at his previous nemesis and with much impatience he does an almost knee down swerve to pass this poor Toyota on the right with much fanfare of hands and knees and arms in the air.

I just don't get it. It's completely unnecessary.

By contrast when I hit the M5 there is a couple on a Hayabusa cruising and the chick on the back gives me a gingerly wave as I pass them.

Have none of this *** when using the R300/N2 every single other day.

When I went to town to repair my jacket I saw these tossers. Idiots through and through. Especially funny when I catch up to them on my battleship because they are unable to filter properly

More unbelievable how is this for a n00b fail?

After just about 18 months on my R1200RS I only found out yesterday it has self-cancelling indicators.

This after I had thought it had them when first test riding the bike and then when reviewing it lamenting the fact that it didn't and thinking I had confused it with the Ducatis.

Turns out it uses a combination algorithm of time and distance namely 10 seconds AND 300 metres which is why I just always figured it wasn't working even though sometimes I was convinced it had turned itself off before I did.

Live and learn.

Reading the manual again it is actually mentioned in there but doesn't give these details and it's kind of left in the disclaimer area, not as a main event.

Yeah it's literally like following an elastic.

Speeds down the straight when it's 2m wide but if everyone doesn't get out of the way stops dead and loses their ****.

Like those okes who put impressive lap times down but can't negotiate a set of cones in a parking lot.

Ugh, just heard about a motorcyclist knocked down on FW de Klerk Blvd inbound.

Stay safe out there.

It's funny I generally am willing to stop for just about anyone.

But after witnessing the twat in traffic this morning I would honestly ignore him and keep going as he doesn't deserve to be helped.

Makes me wonder when I hear these things if we should feel sorry for all of them.

The N1 is a racing track in the peak hours, both mornings and evenings. Guys ride way too fast for the conditions. That's why I only use it up to Plattekloof, then take the scenic route to Montague Gardens. No drama that way, much more pleasant than those speeding knobs

This was at like 09:15.

Probably much worse earlier in the day.

Ja, and why are they speeding while lane splitting. It's like they're looking for trouble.

I just move out the way when they is a gap, cause they ride up your rear end like they want to inspect your testicles or something. Those are the riders that make it dangerous, as you almost don't want to slow down or brake to take the gap in fear they they'll hit you from behind or something....

N1 going out was a mess as well, down to one lane at one point.

Lane splitting.... If someone moves over I will always try and indicate a thank you, but not always safe to wave.

Yeah which is why I’ll just angle my head or something to acknowledge.

Goggles are fun until you inevitably have a wasp fly in between the goggles and the helmet area, relentlessly stinging you until your face swells up like a beach ball if you are unlucky enough to be riding along a busy freeway at the time with no safe space to pull of.

Don't ask me how I know this.
