I don't believe my eyes. If the bikes are indeed brand new.

Off the top of my head:
SDR regular price is R200k.
GT regular price is R230k.
690R regular price is R130k

I've used Shark helmets for the last 10 years or so, been very happy with both the quality & after-sales service.

The agents are Langstons, based in Midrand. I had a open/close mechanism on the chin break after accidentally dropping the helmet. Popped in to Langstons, mechanism replaced & repaired FOC, helmet was also inspected (though not x-rayed) cleaned, new foam inserts & new visor all provided FOC.

Whole exercise took half an hour, was an absolute pleasure.

Can’t say I had the same experience with Langston or Shark.

But being ex Cape Town does make it more tricky.

Eventually they wanted to send it back to France because it was leaking and hellishly noisy without just offering a replacement or even a demo while I’m helmetless.

That’s when I lost patience and CPA’d the whole thing and got a refund.

Won’t be doing a Shark again.

Looks like it's a KTM special (all dealerships). I think at the motorcycle show in Italy in November they going to announce the new 790 duke (hence they getting rid of the 690s). Probably going to announce an updated version of the GT (TFT screen + quick shifter up and down etc etc).
Although these deals are awesome, and I wish I had the cash a 690R. Imagine you recently bought a GT for R230k and now they selling for R160k...

Was going to buy a MT09 tracer , now not so sure , at those prices i may buy the 1290 super duke .
I can only shake my head , i wanted to buy a bike with a windscreen as i have a 690 duke and after 150Ks it becomes a pain in the neck if you riding a bit fast .

So I went bargain hunting on a new Triumph but they were all gone at those special prices - nothing left

I left R2000 poorer for a tiny pathetic coil replacement for one of my Kawasakis ...priced by KMSA - what a rip
Heads up MH motorcycles moving from current location to paarden Eiland end of October

Yeah I'd say there was no more stock 10 days after sale.
One has to wonder how long KMSA will carry on like this.

Awesome bike my friend has one .

Yeah we starting to get to know each other nicely :)

How many miles have you put on the new beast this weekend, Slapdash?

I found the issue with my front brake lever not activating the rear brake light - the cable from the switch on the handlebars was mif so I pulled through and soldered in a new one:

Today I went over the entire bike with some carnauba wax and went at the rims with Autosol. The fuel tank came out nice and shiny again but the plastics didn't change much. The sun has damaged them too much. I tried buffing them with a rotary polisher but even that was in vain. It seems painting or vinyl wrap will be the only option left. But hey, progress :D

Yeah I’m not sure that moving to Paarden Eiland is going to help them much.

Sure it might reduce rental, but will also reduce foot traffic.

At the same time people don’t just walk past and decide to buy bikes.

On the other hand is quite nice to have more and more bike shops out that way. It will become Motorcycle Metropolis soon enough.

At the same time Andrew, the new owner is a proper business man and if anyone will do well with that shop it’s him.

*****

You could go crazy and hit the KTM specials. :)

Doesn’t look too terrible up close really.

I took that pic about two weekends ago before I started waxing the panels and tank. It's looking better now, but still not 100%. The colour is coming back but not like the original colour used to be - it's more of a maroon colour now.

The vinyl solution is starting to look very tempting the more time I waste in vain to attempt to get rid of the pink :o

Been fighting with myself to pull the trigger on the 2017 mt09, at that price is for me considering it, but I fear it's too much bike for me, coming from a Er6.

If you’ve ridden the ER for any decent amount of time/mileage then it really shouldn’t be a problem.

They aren’t mental bikes.

Any bike only goes as fast as you want it to. Don't go mad with the throttle and it won't take off on you.
You can also stick it in rain mode (or B mode - whichever the low-power one is) Cuts the power down to similar ot ER6 levels.

Just said goodbye to the B King.
You shall be missed, that engine was special.
