Quick question - is anyone here using a form of specialized motorcycle insurance? Who are you using? I just found out that my insurance have decided to insure me at double the quote they provided, so I'm a bit miffed. Might be looking to move away. :(

What made them change the quote?? Did some detail change between the first and last quote?

Otherwise there are plenty of bike specific places, just do your sums wrt the excess structure. Often times the cheap premiums come with multiple percentage based excesses (one I saw it was theoretically possible to pay a 35% of claim value excess)

I use Miway, can't comment on the service since I have not had an incident yet. But they very good with other insurance, they saved me by paying 53k to a third party when I had an accident while driving a friends car. I had to pay for my friends car though.
I was not aware there places for specialised bike insurance.

Nothing changed. They're saying it was only an estimate. I'm saying they're full of **** :)
Outsurance has gotten about R100 less per month, so might just consider that. Will continue to shop around and update here as well so others know.

I just had the short term insurance ombudsman rule in my favour against Bryte... (Onepet pet insurance)

The insurer I had been with for about 5 years refused to cover my bike. "We don't do that". So I moved my entire portfolio to Alex Forbes. R5k a month in premiums....

Depending on if you still want to go with them, tell them to listen to the recordings or show them the initial quote. They can't back down if nothing has changed. Anyways, I'm with Outsurance for my bike. Quite expensive on its own but the rest of my policy is cheap so I'm fine with it.

Hi guys. Where in the Cape does one get the best tyre deals?

JustBikeTyre in Brackenfell was cheaper than everyone else last time round and the service was good but they had only just opened the shop then so don't know what's going on now.

I would avoid any of the "direct" options. You'll never get a good deal with them.

Personally use a broker but that's also because all my other insurance is there.

Did you try BMW Insurance? They were only marginally more expensive than my broker. You obviously need to have a BMW but that's not a problem for you.

Dealership should have a direct contact on the floor as well.

I watch this channel once in a while to remind myself to not be an idiot, and to watch out for idiots.

A few gems and ... bicycles :(

Sooooo this happened today. 75 year old making an illegal right turn from the Rivonia South offramp onto Rivonia North. He just had to try and skip the line of cars waiting to go to Witkoppen! Nice way to start Easter Weekend

N1 outbound from Cape Town at Jip de Jager a guy decided to change lanes without checking blind spot and a biker crashed into him.

Whats sad is that most people just drove past him on the road. Myself and another 2 guys pulled over to help they guy up and to move his bike off the road. Seems like only a knee injury due to wearing jeans.
