The solvents in kerosene or paraffin will perish o'rings (assuming you have an O or X ring chain). Rather use something like prepsol and a toothbrush. Rinse with water. Let it dry. Then apply wax/oil.

Actually prepsol is the evil one.

Kerosene is fine ( do you even get that locally) and chain wax/lube is actually paraffin based.

I watched that exact Revzilla video that's why I asked.

Is normal paraffin the same as kerosene?

Yip. Paraffin is the best chain cleaner, using water based products is asking for rust amongst other things.

That is something new, I always thought that dedicated chain cleaner in a spray can was the best.... Think I need to get me some parrafin then....

Anyone got an MSX125 - might get one now after my Tiger was sold

It probably is better overall, but it might be a paper value benefit at great cost.

Personally I've found that the whole concept of cleaning chains is inconsequential overall.

So I just lube it up as necessary and that is loosely every 1500km or so.

@Hamster Awesome

I might be getting a special on a unit, for 23k

Your fuelly is extremly low, wow

I would like to mount my top box, but don;t see much accesories for it locally

Would be interesting to know what that cost you.
I got it for R28k, insured for R35k though. Worth it....it brings out your inner hooligan.

Fast enough to exceed the speed limit in town. I've hit 90 with it but you can feel it prefers 75. I'm a bit heavy though.

Fuel economy is awesome! Got 1.8 the other day!

R23k  Awesome!

I've thought about getting a soft box for the back, but a backpack/laptop bag works just as well.

Kawasaki is bring out the Z125 to compete. 7.5L tank and looks like batman's Grom :D

Yeah I know what they cost.

I meant it will be interesting to see what servicing costs are compared to purchase cost.

I should actually start a shared spreadsheet thing and have everyone submit their invoices for a real comparison.

While I have 40km to ride to work and plenty of highway it will never work.

But if I was closer would be fun for sure.

I'll post updates on service costs.

I commute 40km (20+20) every day. No highway though of course.

Sort of like:

Total purchase cost
Monthly insurance
Avg cost per km
Avg service cost (per km?)

Could make for a very nice comparison actually

Yeah and labour per hour and common items and such.

But thinking about it they will be one massive spreadsheet.

Man you guys are spoilt for race tracks up there.

It's the one bike I haven't ridden yet, the newer V4 Aprilias.

I expect they will deliver much more than the Ducatis, but again a complete lack of dealers here.

Cayenne should really just setup shop at Canal Walk or something.

Just read through the last few pages of this thread, and no mention of scooters?

Does that count as a motorcycle? /hides
