Do you hire out your negotiation skills? ;) I need some easy-overs...

I haven't tried the Xkulcha factory shop at their premises in Joburg, but I heard that you can get some decent bargains there.
For gloves I have leathers - its a more snug fit - just preference i guess.

Its an entire sub forum with notifications on motorcycle accidents.

Here

Rather go read ride reports of awesome trips people have done. Riding a bike is a choice you make. Comes with risks which you should know about long before you swing a leg over your saddle
The ThinkBike guys are a great initiative... I'm just not one for the constant holier-than-thou harping on about gear and how you should/shouldn't ride that goes on all the time on their site

Gloves are a challenge for me. I have short fingers :/

Nah that's a bit optimistic.

R600-R700.

K6 GSX-R1000 - R319.79 from PSG Warmbad (Hollard is the insurer)

But obviously, a K6 is not a R200k+ bike (still goes like one :p )
And I'm 30yo and in the 6th year of ownership of that particular bike (which is my 3rd in total). So yeah, newbies do get shafted.

Yeah a K6 is going to be cheap.

Insurance is directly linked to the value. Then the extras like risk and age etc on top of that.

You can't pay R300 for a 200k bike. It simply doesn't work.

My normal insurer is PSG Kempton Park (Hollard is the insurer)

They wanted just over R1k ..... shaft with bargepole

Looks good. does it have enough ventilation - front and back - trust me you will need enough airflow on a relatively warm day in Jozi

speaking of this, I'm pondering getting a camelbak backpack, just to have something to drink on the road :p
