I cleaned it again. Used proper chain cleaner, didn't run it in gear, had it in manual while turning the rear wheel, rode around to warm up the chain, then sprayed from the rear to get the wax inside the links.

Good job.

I prefer to spray the inside (between the sprockets.

1. Because it’s easier to hold something behind it and stop the overspray.

2. There is less to fling as it’s on the inside.

I don’t know if they didn’t test it before or if it didn’t put up a red flag but I now suspect that was the underlying problem all along it just took its time to kill the QS every time.

You didn't by any chance ask why the resistance in the wires matter? I can't fathom of a reason why the signals aren't digital for this system

That's an interesting question. I never thought about the newer generation bikes. I know bikes of the last decade (well, Suzuki's, anyway), used different resistances to indicate the selected gear- which I now assume means an analog signal. I picked up on this little tidbit when I was researching TRE's.

Nope I didn’t but plan to pop them an email to report back this morning so will throw the question in there.

The difference is astounding to the point I now understand how others on forums always claimed it only needs a very soft light touch.

The difference between fully manual and quick shifting is actually like two different gearboxes now.
 
Anyone on here owned a Honda VT750S? Would be interested in some opinions on the bike. I test drove a used 2011 model over the weekend and quite enjoyed the short ride (apart from brakes which were a bit more unresponsive than I would like).

For those of us that do listen to music or use intercom systems on the road, in your opinions, which are the best headsets, earphones or packages for this purpose, and what are you currently using?
 
I'm using a spirit kit because it was the cheapest.

Sena en klaar.

Trust me I have a fong kong unit that was alright while it lasted but it just doesn't do prolonged weather exposure very well.

Now the link to headset which is also the charge port doesn't make contact most of the time to charge so I've pretty much stopped bothering.

Sena or Scala.... probably the two best. Both offer a new mesh technology model. Myself, I have the Sena 20S.
 
Anyone want to recommend your preferred financing company? I've been a lifelong Wesbank customer with a excellent credit record, affordability and no missed payments. They just quoted me a prime + 4.25% lending rate on a used bike and aren't willing to budge on that while also insisting I make use of their warranty product which adds another 5k to the financed amount. Bike is a 2011 model with 6300km on the clock.

Try them all, see which one gives you the best rate- that which works for one person may not work for the next. I currently have my Civic finance with Standard Bank and the parentals' SsangYong finance is with ABSA.
 
Felt like a complete n00b this morning getting on the bike.

Bought myself a proper pair of riding boots, and man, this will take some getting used to. Firstly, I can't feel the gear lever properly on my foot. Secondly, after the first gear change to 2, three just didn't want to take... eventually figured out was that once I've successfully change gear, I never fully release the gear lever, so going back up for 3 (or whatever) just does bugger all. This is now forcing me to change my style a little, whereby I now force myself to move my foot out between gear changes...
 
Maybe see if you can adjust the gear lever upwards a bit?
