Ja I have enough tools to change a turbo on a car, this doesn't intimidate me just need to find the best source for the pads. Gonna give randburg motorcycles a call tomorrow, and will try the stealership too, just in case

Dealership price might not be too bad if you fit yourself.

Often find the SBS ones are better pads while being cheaper too.

Can’t comment on Jo’burg to source from though.

My pads at 28,000km look amazing still with multiple millimetres to go. So I might very well consider the higher price to replace them with OEM as it seems they last longer and probably cheaper overall then.

Reckon I might make it to 35,000km but okes on forums have easily gotten out even more.

Traded in 2nd hand superbike for brand new supernaked. Loss of 40k.

Even tho I only road it for 3 days before work flew me away again.... If I had ridden this the first time I would have bought it over the RR. Even with annoying rev limiter it's still fun as hell and it doesn't kill my arms.

Oh didn’t realise your RR was second hand.

So you never test rode the XR then either? Best you don’t then otherwise me might just make this move again. :)

Although it is power limited over the R as I recall so might not wake you up that much. More comfortable than both though.

Rode these 2 and a 690 enduro. The 790 is pretty awesome. First time I've used a quickshifter.

BMW call it a retune and not a detune. Its basically an RR but limiter kicks in at 12 instead of 16k. So you lose a chunk of top-end power.

But... They tuned the torque low down, so this bike actually makes more torque than the RR and it has lower gearing. Up to 150 where aero really kicks in, you'll give the RR a good run for its money.

Here's the difference.
R and RR make the exact same peak torque, but the R has that torque at lower revs. So while the RR is ballistic at top revs, the R just pulls from low.

The black lines are the RR and the blue and red is the R.

I was referring to the XR. It makes less power than the R as I recall.

RR would be naked tuned with more low end for street hooligans. Just like Street Triple over Daytona.

Which in a way makes it more crazy.

**** me sideways, LOL

Randburg motorcycles: R520, and they'll do a chain service while they sell me the pads
Honda Sandton: R1800 - I nearly dropped my coffee.

The XR makes the same power as the R, both make 160hp and 112nm <3

The only real difference is the weight.

All 3 engines are tuned very differently. If you check my post previously with a link to a imgr of a R and RR dyno graph, they have the same torque, but the R makes it consistently at lower revs, so it actually makes more power up until the higher revs of the RR takes over.

I always see complaints about why the XR doesn't have the full power of the others. But having just checked the website now I'm guessing they meant the RR not the R.

However they are all upspecced now but still vastly different.

R : 165 hp @ 11,000 rpm / 114 Nm @ 9250 rpm - 205 kg wet.
RR : 199 hp @ 13,500 rpm / 113 NM @ 10500 pm - 208 kg wet.
XR : 165 hp @11,000 rpm / 114 Nm @ 9250 rpm - 228 kg wet.

However they don't list the gear ratios and I suspect that would make for very different bikes as I can't see the XR and R having the same ratios.

According to Motorycle Specs the individual gear ratios are the same but the final drive ratios are significantly different, but I'm not sure if I can trust their specs.

The XR and R appear to run identical tunes. Same power and torque at same revs.

But with different gearing ratios would feel quite different.

RR for the WIN:D

For outright speed and power sure.

In the real world? Especially when commuting that's a very different debate.

Hence my deleting an R.

Yup. I completely get it.

Most superbikers don’t though.

That 40hp extra means nothing in traffic.

And the ergonomics are counter productive.

Can't get that Huskie Vitpilen out of my mind.

I feel like I felt the first time I saw a Monster.

Husqvarna is not a very popular brand in SA, anyone have any info about their presence - parts and servicing, ok or wildly overpriced?

The 701 is R150k, that isn't a cheap bike but not the most expensive either, I wouldn't want to regret spending the money because of what boils down to admin.

Anyone here owned a Husqvarna motorcycle?

For 150k I'd rather get the Yamaha MT-09 and then have some spare change for extras
