Don't know why but it seems like my problem is coming and going. One day fine, the next I can't do anything.
For me too, while 4.78Mbps is certainly nothing to complain about, I think something has changed.

Still no call back from the network department.
Upload speed particularly bad today.
After a record low upload speed of 0.04Mbps on 2011/01/14 and still not hearing back from the network department after two weeks I called 140 this morning, gave them my reference number and asked for an update.

The query was closed on 2011/01/06. I am very disappointed.

I asked the agent to re-open the query but he first wanted to go through my dashboard settings with me, I obliged and we made sure the connection type was 'RAS (modem)' and he then made me change from automatic network selection to manual network selection, and then said it should be better now and wanted to end the call.

I protested saying we hadn't actually changed anything since I have never seen my modem roaming on Vodacom. I asked him to hang on and I did a quick speedtest and still only got around 0.4Mbps upload. I asked him again to re-open the query and he said he first needs to make a follow up call to me later today.

Well I never did get that follow up call, so I assume my original query remains closed.

has any1 contacted cell c about the issue?

Yes Dammit! Why have an online complaint tool, when there's no one on the other side of the web form! I have now used this channel twice... the only response I get is:

Dear ...,

We're on top of your complaint and will contact you shortly. Once we have resolved your complaint, we'll publish it on the site.

Thanks to your feedback we can build a better Cell C. The power is in your hands.

Glad to be of service,
The Cell C Team

Is it back to CellC of old... Morgenster Brackenfell, in fact most of Brackenfell is a disaster zone, and if I look carefully it appears that CT based problems are not priority as the tech teams are all cruising around JHB...

THE POWER IS NOT IN MY HANDS!

All,

Can you all who have problems please give me locations in which this is still an issue and I will have the team look into it.

Just in case you missed it in other threads:

Cape Town -Brackenfell - Morgenster Heights, Vredekloof and Protea Heights

Issues: Poor data throughput, often none even when connected, constant disconnections

Stellenbosch University campus area. Disconnects every 10 minutes. Pathetic speeds. Feels worse than using a 28.8kbps dialup modem. I bought the prepaid option for R3k, so hopefully this is not what I have to deal with from now on... Also the CellC Shop in Eikestad mall is not selling the modems/sims at the moment, claiming the Stellenbosch area will be out of action "for months".

Exactly the same experience

My attempted purchase of the Cell C USB Speed Stick yesterday in the Stellenbosch branch was also aborted after the salesperson indicated (in a roundabout way, admittedly) a seemingly extensive period of low quality connections. However, it would seem rather poor business to neglect a probably highly profitable market in the university town for months, nor that it should take so long to resolve any network problem whatsoever, so that I find it rather difficult to believe the predictions from the Cell C staff in Stellenbosch. (Given the lack of quality of service from my current provider, though, "irony" is a relevant term when optimism, such in that last sentence, is used to defray concerns.)

Constant disconnections and slow speeds here in Muizenberg. Sadly I'm stuck with this "speed"stick for a few more gigs. I am working up the courage to switch back to VC.

The issues in Durbanville seem to be sorted out... no more disconnects, and good download speed - upload is still pretty slow :(

You'll need a healthy bank balance too... VC will welcome you back with open arms though!

Exact same issues just behind Cape Gate which is close to Brackenfell Morgenster Heights, probably the same tower. Whats the problem Ron? Too many users per tower? Interference from 3rd parties, other providers?
