New iBurst Wireless Plus pricing revealed

lol just to poke some more fun out of this.

Old Pricing

1gb + 64kbs(Free) = R190

1gb + 1gb(topup) + 64kbs(free) = R190 + R189 = R389 total

New Pricing

1gb + 64kbs = R149 + R199 = R348 total

2gb + 64kbs = 198 + 199 = R397 total

Not even gonna bother doing all the packages because every new package will be more expensive.

The best thing Iburst did was lowering the top up cost but then they lost also a thing that made iBurst iBurst the free 64kbs throtteling. I know some people misuse it, but at least it was something that put iBurst ahead of its competitors.

Also something to know is if you get the new 2 gb package and top it up 3 times. Gives you a total of 5gb @ R405 rands ^^ thats a R40 saving from the 5gb package

If you are someone who is happy with dial up speed rather than broadband, just stay on the old packages. Simple solution. Buying the Giga and then laboriously pulling down 20Gb on throttled makes you an unprofitable customer for iBurst, so you can't really expect to get Christmas presents this year.

For those of us who want to use broadband the way it is intended, Santa has hit town with a bag full of bigger caps and cheaper top-ups. The only downside I see is fake beards and garlic breath.

I noticed that too...:D

I will stick with the R198/2GB package and top up when necessary.

Guys just confirmed with Shaun that the 64k Add-on is only available on the 5GB upwards and the 128k throttle on the 8GB upwards. I don't know what they were thinking with this. Who the hell is going to pay R644 for 5 GB of data and a 64k softcap and how slow would you have to be to pay R841 for 8GB data and then a 128k softcap.

Jannie if this is really what you guys are doing do you honestly think somebody who is paying R199 for 1GB and a 64k softcap is suddenly going to decide to pay 223% more for effectively the same service? WOW is anybody going to change?

And seeings that we are by and large the technical community that people come to for recommendations on an ISP exactly how many of us will recommend IBurst over ADSL+CAP at a lower price hmmm.

This isn't a personal attack BUT if this is honestly supposed to make us happy you shouldn't have signed this off after so many drinks.

I went from excited this morning and one of IBursts' biggest advocates to one of its most negative advocates in the space of 30min.

What do you guys think???

Oh and if I am wrong on this post feel free to correct me and I will apologize profusely.

Totally agree with you here and have already set things in motion to say byeBurst and switch to the now MUCH cheaper uncapped adsl (uncapped 384k is quite a bit cheaper than the 128k iburst offering considering these restrictions) on the morrow.

You guys might've disliked the 64k users who actually USED what they were paying for but now those same users can use 6 times as much for less from other providers.

Business fail anyone?

How did you confirm this, did you personally talk to shaun?

If this is true, goodbye throttle speeds to 90% of iBurst users.

Lots of gamers will be moving to ADSL.

Harakiri from iBurst. Jannie & Co. can you guys pleeaase post confirmation?

Does not make sense when you consider that you can get ADSL for cheaper and at a higher speed.

Straight from the horses mouth so to speak! Gave Shaun a call earlier ... think he is going to avoid calls for a little while now... I wouldn't wanna deal with the backlash from this!

Well thats GAY to say the least... My contract comes to an end in march next year... Give me a good reason to renew and I will.

I honestly think that you should be able to use the Value Added Services on any packaged... Except maybe the 40mb package if thats still around.

Edit: some where there was a thread about ibursts business products and in said thread Jannie said that if a company offers a product they must sell it to anyone who willing to pay for it(or something along those lines). Well iburst is sell the 128k add-on and I want to buy it regardless of what package I'm on... Just saying.

What I don't get is that the main idea must be to get more revenue from the 1GB downloader boys, seeing as how many woulda probably used the 128k for now and probably eventually subscribed to the late night uncapped this just seems to be a good way to make sure that they stay put and rape the network. Me personally I like the idea of not constantly monitoring my bandwidth so I woulda used the 128 for better gaming and internet radio etc, woulda then dumped my downloads late at night. downloading on a 128k or 64k is like eating a watermelon with a straw. You can do it but if you don't have to why would you!!!

As i said Land I have already confirmed this but if you put news up like that late at night would you like to deal with the fallout?? Still I understand then need for you guys to hear it direct as well, lets hope IBurst boys feel up to logging in.

Finally someone else who can also see what a big mess iburst is making

%$^%# em. I WILL stay on my current package(3gig) and wish I had downgraded(1gig) a month back. I'm with iburst cause it's the most affordable way to get to my 6 odd gig's a month.

The new packages are trying to change this, so no thanks.

I don't see them logging in, they have a reputation for playing hideaway.

I honestly hope that Jannie decides to change this if it's true or else i'm just going to stay on my current package and start to download 24/7 when capped :/

/me checks date.... it is the year 2009 we are away from 56K and most users starts from at least [-]256K[/-] 384K and upwards.

/laughs at

A 64 Kbps All-day Uncapped service at R199 per month and a 128 Kbps All-day Uncapped service at R249 per month.
if screamer gets their **** together these are going to be a waste compared to their unlimited service for R399 for a 348k unlimited.

thinking of WA's gaming service to come. if you take out 1 gig prepaid package it will cost around R70 for the initial package and you will not use any bandwidth there after playing on their servers- this offer seems a little bleak in comparison. then again if you can't have adsl in your area you are stuck with either wimax or iburb. i would be however interested in what game was used for this calculation
Included in the new bundles will be a 3 month trial period for the popular iGame service hosted by iBurst. All subscribers will get 1GB of gaming data per month on top of the bundle size. This is typically good enough for about 50 hours of gaming.

Personally 64kbps isn't enough for me, we have 3+ computers sharing the internet at home and sometimes the amount of pain it is to load a page sometimes ...grr...As for downloading I still don't rate the 64k service, easily justified by this current example. I left a 170 meg anime ep download going last night. In theory thats easily doable over 12 hours, it got about 80% and just times out now, now I get to start all over..*awkward yay....oh and email isn't sending out atm either ;)

I have read at least a million posts about the new pricing structure and all the joy/dismay (depends on your POV regarding raping the 64k :D ) and I have come to the following conclusions:
1. The overall connection cost is cheaper.
2. The price/GB is alot cheaper.
3. 79 983 out of iBurst's 80 000 users do not know what softcap means.

This means that 17 people got screwed over properly and the rest are happy. I currently have 2x1Gb accounts with them. This costs me R400 for around 30Gb of data per month.

I'm one of the 17 :) and I'm seriously reconsidering my options.
