New Smart TV or streaming/casting device?

Fair enough and somewhat true.

Not much different than my motorcycle not being able to go off-road.
It's a bit different - you chose to rather have a road going bike, rather than offroad.

But in this case Apple chose and you aligned to what they said .

It's also not only you - it's most die hard fans

Pretty much, oh I don't need DTS, pass through so eh who cares about others

Exactly - when this thread was created, I was using my first UHD TV and watching both YouTube & Netflix UHD on the internal apps.

However, because Apple hadn't launched a UHD streamer yet, so none of the die hard fans were into UHD at all and gave reasons like 'not enough content / not mature technology / doesn't affect me' . The same when it couldn't do YouTube UHD, Youtube auto-HDR, YouTube 60fps, or AV1, or Netflix Interactive, or Bitstream ... everyone amended their 'use case' to match.

But like I said, the consistancy is there ... which is great

If you married to Apple, their are enough "pirate" apps available on the play store. Maybe not as polished as the Android versions, but they are there.
No there isn't. There's only Wako that hasn't gotten an update in a year. Also it costs $2 per month now. Kodi you have to sideload every 7 days manually.
No issues and nothing lacking for my use case.

By and large the issues people have all come down to piracy.
This. After getting a lifetime Infuse licence piracy is mostly taken care of as well.

Yup, it's amazing how when those do finally make it to Apple the use case changes, suddenly it's like I only watch Dolby Atmos through my Apple TV plugged directly into my soundbar, not this eARC pass through kak :-)

I dunno, don't have an Apple TV, yet, but by all reports, GSE Smart IPTV, XCIPTV, and IPTVx, are all good.

Becuase eArc doesn’t work properly.

Nothing to do with the Apple TV.

And DTS is inferior so nobody should use it anyway. It’s hardly industry supported too.

So what you’re saying is they catered to your exact use case again?

That’s terrific !

DTS isn’t supported by any of the main streaming services or consoles.

eArc legitimately causes latency.

These aren’t use case things. These are people shouldn’t use them at all things.

The only reason people want DTS pass through on an Apple TV is to watch pirated Blu-ray. Fact.

… and AV1?
… bitstream ?
… Netflix interactive?

What about the days when everything else was 4K - did the fact that Apple TV was late bug you? And when they eventually did launch 4K - YouTube wasn’t 4K for years afterwards? And there was no auto HDR?

Did any of that bother you?

Nope, not at all. Good things comes to those who wait.

HDR was a travesty in the early days, in many ways still is but at least most of them agree on only a handful of standards now.

I thought maybe I was missing something with Netflix Interactive but it’s really just a fad for people who don’t have consoles or Apple TV’s to play proper games on.

Brilliant ! Apple timed it perfectly!

Unreal! Apple timed it perfectly!

What about bitstream ? They excluded and you said it was for poor people or something? So they made the right call?

And a high efficiency video codec which Apple *don’t* do - you see no need for it? But s high efficiency image codec you can’t do without, if I remember?

It’s an absolute miracle they didn’t go the other way - but I guess you would as well?

We’ve done this all before.

Bitstream is supported…it’s just not there for piracy options as we’ve already covered.
