New TV's in SA

Thanks. Checked out the SK8000 and looks exactly the same as the SK7900. Trying to make up my mind between the new Samsung NU7100, Hisense M7030 or LG SK7900. All between R17000-R19000

The LG, has a 10 bit panel, viewing angles are much better when sitting at an angle.

For 4K more you can get the OLED panel from LG. LED panels does not make sense then???

Thanks, that’s what most of the salesmen have said at the stores as well. I think I may settle for that.
 
Quite bummed that the 55nu8000 is not making its way to SA :(
Got someone from the Samsung store to check and he confirmed only the 82" will be available.

Anyone know which international site I can order from?

looking in the range of R15-18k.

I've been looking at other options from Hisense or LG but if you walked into my house, you would know that I will probably end up getting a Samsung anyway.
 
Useful thread, thanks - I can't keep up with all the TV releases. Good to know what is new/old/end of life.
 
For the clver oaks.
I know very little about TV's and the latest display tech.
I have aApple TV 4K HDR which is my main reason for looking at HDR TV's. TV will be used for DSTV mainly sport and then YouTube, Netflix etc. on the Apple TV. I'm looking at around 50 - 55 inch and the budget is around R10K, preferably under that.

Would you go for a lower end ultra HD TV with HDR or rather skip the HDR part and go for something which is just ultra HD and save some money? From what I read true HDR requires brightness upwards of 1000 nits, but all the TV's in my price range have brightness ratings around 400 nits. So would I be wasting my time with HDR at this price point, would we even be able to really appreciate HDR on a TV in this class?

I had the KU7000 which was HDR - but only 400 nits as well. You still get the colour depth though, so it's kinda half HDR. I didn't think it was too bad myself

You mostly find 1000nits and over mostly in flagship models of a manufacturer.

So I would get an HDR TV but focus more on how deep the blacks are and whether it has a wide colour gamut

The Hisense range confuses me, do you perhaps know which model is one step below the M7030UW, is it the A6100UW or the N3000UW? I'm just looking around, want to see if I can get something under R10K. Seams I would have to go for a older range or down to 50", which I won't really mind if the reviews are good. Also, where do you get the equivalent UK model numbers? Seams for good reviews you need to search the UK model numbers.

The A6100 is a 2018 model and N3000 is a 2017 model, they are pretty much the same tv except that the A6100 comes with the newer Vidaa U 2.5 OS.
