Thanks Greg....so I had a look at both TVs yesterday, the Q6FN looks better with the thinner boarders and its much brighter. The SK8000 picture quality is great and the remote/smart interface is on another level. Think I'm going with the SK8000.

Does the SK8000 connect to other brands Bluetooth devices? I currently own a Samsung soundbar.

Mine connects to my Alexa via Bluetooth to play audio, so I don't think you will have any issues connecting to other brands of devices.

Yes it does. It also works with HDMI ARC perfectly (you need a decent HDMI cable though) my LG TV can control my samsung soundbard via arc.

Yip I find myself looking at 4K HDR content on youtube just to admire the display. Tv puts out good picture. 4K streaming on Amazon Prime - Grand Tour is also amazing.
 
I am looking for a new TV set as the old 50" plasma was damaged by power surge during the last round of loadshedding.

My insurance will replace for around R10K. I am looking at the LG 55UK6200 or Samsung UA58NU7105KXXA.

Anyone has any of these sets and any recommendations please.....

I would go for the UA58NU7105KXXA. I have a NU7100 but a 43" in my study its very good. Also you can get the UA58NU for 10k (R9999) I have seen at the samsung shop. The competitor on the LG side is actually the UK6400 this is also a good TV when I was in the market I was impressed by the quality. If you can't decide go and check them at the stores in your area. Take a usb drive with 4k content and non 4k content and tell the sales guy you want to play your content. However if I was in your shoes I would not hesitate to go with the NU7105
 
Does anyone have the Hisense 58A6100UW? I cant seem to find informative specs online, and at R8499 I am keen to get this TV. 55"is smaller than id like, but cant afford any 65" Tv's. TIA

Thanks for posting this and the Hisense model. It's good to see that the Skyworth 55" model is available at Makro, guess I'll pop around some time to check it out in real time. I'm really keen on buying a new TV end of the year, but can't really decide if I should stick with LG and get another Android box or just buy an Android enabled TV and be done with it. What put me off the G6 Skyworth models is that they didn't have HDR support while the Q3 does, which is nice.
 
I'm currently in the market for a new TV and the stand out so far from all of my research is the Hisense B8000UW as recently mentioned above. This is purely going on paper and I also cannot confirm if the local version has Android TV compared to the H8F. Tafelberg in Bellville has it in stock, hope to go have a look for myself. But that said you get Dolby Vision support, and if no Android TV present you can get a Dolby Vision supported media player (Apple TV, Chromecast Ultra etc). I just hope the local dimming is as good as the reviews say for the H8F.

The Skyworth Q3 was also on my list but no Optical Out present as I will use it with a Samsung Sound Bar and no Dolby Vision. I've scrapped LG from my list as I prefer the contrast ratio of VA panels compared to IPS. The Samsung Q6FNA from 2018 would be my pick if the main use would be gaming. Can be found on special here and there in the same ball park price range of the Hisense B8000UW.

Please let me know if you can checkout the B8000UW in person and confirm if it has Android TV.

So I just convinced my dad to buy this TV thinking it was an android TV and I can confirm that it is not. Will probably have to go for the B7200
