New TV's in SA

M series 2016, 5 is the series number. You can look at Australian sites to. Just make it shorter so instead of 65M7000 it'll be M7

From the little reading I just did, they say if you have a 65" TV, you mustn't sit closer than around 2.7m from it, or 2.7m is the ideal distance not sure.
My dad called me earlier, he wants to buy a 65" UHD Samsung which is on special at Makro. My concern is their living room size, currently they have a 46" HD TV, the closest person sits around 1 to 1.5m from the TV and his and my moms regular positions is around 2m from the screen. Will this be a problem, will it be fatigueing on the eyes or something if watching for a while? Also I read that with especially watching sports, having a TV which is too big gets very annoying, since you feel you want to move further away from the screen to see the full picture and the fast action if sitting too cloes can even make some people feel dizzy and sick. They mainly watch DSTV, a lot of sport.

My first thought is that they should rather get a 55", for their size living room a 65" will be huge, but of course for dad bigger is better and he doesn't give a flunk about viewing distances and room size, for him it looked nice in the shop and that's what counts.

It's more about seeing imperfections i.e. pixelation.

If they watch 4K content it shouldn't be a problem but once they have HD, FHD and SD content on the TV then they should watch it a distance that they won't be able to see much pixelation.

Ok we are on 55" now which IMHO is a much better size for their room.
In your opinion, which to go for between Samsung NU7100 and Hisense N7030?
Price is much the same, but Hisense seams to be a much newer TV?
Features looks much the same, LED, UHD, 4K HDR, not sure about panel type?
The Hisense has some good reviews and the review on the Samsung in your OP seams to be pretty average and I can't find others to compare. Obviously the best comparison would be a review on both done by the same person or at least publication, but I can't find any.
From what I read Hisense makes some pretty impressive TV's these days but can one really go wrong with Samsung?
Am I even comparing Apples with Apples here with these 2?

That's good:)

In terms of picture quality they are pretty much on par.
The NU7100 is very similar to last year's model so try and find some reviews on that TV and compare it to the Hisense M7030.

They both have VA panels, which give you deep blacks but tend to lose saturation once you move off center, meaning that anyone sitting at an angle are going to see washed colours.

The other TV you can look at is the LG SK7900 Super UHD, it has an IPS panel , colours are punchy and don't lose saturation if you sit at an angle, the only drawback is that blacks are not as deep as VA panels

Thanks for all your advice, leaning towards the Samsung, dad prefers Samsung over Hisense and the price is best on Loot. I check out some more reviews and then pull the trigger tonight.
Luckally off center viewing won't be much of a issue in their living room, the only really off center position will be if viewing from the kitchen, but the little viewing from the kitchen is nothing serious.

I have the 43" NU 7100. Happy with it so far. I use it as a pc monitor and cannot be happier with refresh rates, color etc

I'm currently torn between the LG SK8000 (R13999@Hirchs) and the Samsung Q6FN(R17999@takealot). How do these TVs fair against each other?

LG has better viewing angles, and the Samsung has deeper blacks. I think the LG is better in terms of reflections.

I'd probably take the LG... But that is just based on reviews...

Currently have the SK8000, love watching movies and series on it (4K content looks insane). You won't regret the purchase.
