New Windows-powered tablet-notebook hybrids now in SA

How would the 10 inch compare to a transformer book? Surely it must be lacking something to be R2k cheaper? (all I can see atm is less ram 2gb vs 1gb).

Mmm. Interesting. Looking forward to feedback.

I've been waiting for the $200 HP Stream "new netbook" at the same price. With 2GB RAM, included 12m Office 365 value $69, 11.5 inch screen, HDMI, USB and SD slot, these basic Windows machines seem to offer amazing value.

Meh.

I've got a Nexus 7 2013 that I use mostly as a GPS and for some light browsing and emails on holiday. Sometimes I don't even take the Wedge. 1 tiny pouch and I'm set.

This thing might me cheaper, but you're back to carrying a separate GPS, separate charger (or are these things standard USB; the surface pro isn't) and separate 3G/LTE. If I wanted to carry around that amount of bulk, I'd carry an ultra book (maybe even a <shudder> macbook air with windows).

What pisses me off is how MS rips you a new one for a windows licence, but hands them out mahala to Nextbook. Monopoly behaviour, I guess. Arrrrr.

There's about 5GB free space.

Eish... but I suppose an SD card will "fix" that. The 1GB RAM worries me though - just can't see browsing, excel, word, email etc. running smoothly on 1GB simultaneously.

Come Richard... hurry up with that feedback now :p

Stuck pixel excluded... your impressions of the 8"?
Build quality... value for money... performance?

Seems like a nice toy. It's pretty solid, the screen quality isn't brilliant (probably good value for the price), but it's responsive and accurate. Hence why I'm going to exchange, not ask for money back. ;)

Like I mentioned earlier - don't make the same mistake as people did with Netbooks. Its a tablet with a keyboard, not a laptop.

Yeah that's very true but I was more referring to Widows 8.1 and 1GB of RAM. Just doesn't seem feasible to me :/
Would like to know what the RAM usage is like when Windows starts up with nothing else running.

does the keyboard work if detached from the screen? This can make a cheap xbmc media player with external hardrive etc. think im going to get the 10.1 inc for the SO and father in law.

Seems like good bang for buck.

I'm really struggling to find a valid reason to buy one.
1 Netbook, 3 Laptops, a number of phones, a Media PC and three tablets... The SO won't approve. :(

Jeez... if I was your SO, I'd also not approve :D

EDIT: I also have no reason to buy one but would really like one :o
