Which one is better for downloading? I am talking about prices around $15-$20 range. Considering the download speed/throttling/shaping with 4Mbps uncapped account and line.:D

Well I'm on Imagine IPS at the moment and news servers are between dead and almost dead..... so maybe you should try a local news server first and see...
Seedbox = FTP, so it depends on the shaping thereof, which should be minimal. So I can almost suggest that (remember only 1/2 ftp conns at a time).

got a seed box over at OVH on a gig line and always have full speed though i get my stuff through HTTP not ftp.

I use Astraweb (News Server) and I get 200kb/s during day and 450kb/s at night... and getting 350kb/s now cause of public holiday :) This is with MWEB.

i decided to test this out and got a seebox account for $10. This account says max 3 active torrents. Anyways I am getting 200kB/s down on it via http. Astra currently at 400kB/s+.

Now I don't know whether it is the particular seedbox I am on. But given Astra is $11 I wouldn't be willing to get a more expensive seedbox.

make of it what you will.

Out of interest, who did you decide to sign up with?

Premium news would be better imo. But depends heavily on what your ISP does w/ the connection to NS.

If you need non-mainstream stuff though then it might not be available on NS.

FTP & HTTP *should* both be entirely unshaped & unthrottled. Depending on who your ISP is that might not be the case though.

From a legal perspective NS is def better.

it's called seedbox.me. it was literally the first random one i came across that was in a price range i felt i wouldn't mind paying the cash to test. If I was a really heavy torrent user I might put some more effort into investigating the options properly.

Weird, I was just looking at seedbox.me last night! They really do seem to offer the best prices. I'm considering dropping Astraweb in favour of a seedbox to take advantage of the fact that http traffic is not shaped at all (as opposed to usenet traffic being shaped during peak hours). Keep us posted :)

seedbox.me is quite nice. Signed up for the $10 package and got started in 20min (takes a while to authorise the account).
They use TorrentFlux. Now I just need to figure out how to use a download manager to get my files via http. Only flashget seems to do the trick, but I only use linux :\

Yea, tried wget, multiget, d4x and even flashget with wine (keeps crashing). The firefox plugin, Download Them All, seems to work, but I can't speed limit the downloads. Its better than nothing I guess.

I use Downstorm (http://www.downstorm.co.za) They charge in Rands, which I like. My torrents always come down at 400k+ via http. The nice thing about them though is that they do not limit the amount of active torrents you can download at a time. The only limit is your storage space. They also have a Vpn thingy that you can take as an extra for faster speed and to secure yourself. I havent taken that yet, but will probably do so next month.

You're mad paying those prices lol.

Its worth it. Works a whole lot better than torrentflux. Downstorm has so many more features.

No offense lol but its not worth it. All you need on torrent flux is to que the torrent and download it. Nothing more, nothing less. The amount you pay for per/gb is retarded. Plus just use news server and you'll get almost the same speed. Its uncapped who cares if it takes 3 days.

Seems like seedbox is a more popular choice.

Cableguy, is downstrom hosted internationally? One problem would be since I am using openweb uncapped and downstorm is owned/operated by them, it's possible that they will shape/throttle download from downstrom in future.

Seriously you do not need a seedbox lol. You are just going to waste cash for nothing.
