Good news people!

Jawug Dawnview is up!

The first true Jawug Highsite is finally up and running.
Anyone in Edenvale, Kensington, Bedfordview and some parts of Primrose will be able to see this one.

So get out your netstumblers/kismets and keep your eyes open for any SSID's starting in www.jawug.za.net

Is Northcliff going to be next ?
Would Northcliff and Dawnview be able to connect ? this would be great and give the community a boost as there is a growing interest.
 
We're looking into it.
Dawnview doesn't have LOS to Northcliff.. (Theres a big City in the way)
But we might be able to find a point somewhere in between that we can bounce through.

If you can organize space anywhere in Sandto City, it'd be a miracle, but yeah, that's a possibility.

Go for the longhaul ;-) I am 15KM LOS from the water-tower on the top of the hill (I am in Benoni an can see the water tower) .. I might dig out the 28dBi wifi dish from the garage dungeon.

I vote for North cliff hill. I live in Randburg and near the mnet buildings and I've got all the wireless equipment which i use to connect to my parents place about 1km away, just wish I knew htf to connect to this wireless net work jawug has got going.

They have got some website to add where your are and to add your node but where do I go from there? :confused: beside that website you need a manual to know wtf is going on :rolleyes:

There are also many forumites here on myadsl that would be able to offer their proffesional advice and help. All you need do is ask.

it was a mistake - i replied to the original post and only then saw that it is finished and then tried to edit my post but obviously did something wrong and didnt reflect the changes.

when some one gets a chance can i get some info on the Jawug concept - what do i need to get set-up?
i pick up signal some distance from my flat - in dunvegan-edenvale with my ipaq pda can i connect?

Yo all,

Benoni (Farrarmere) has now got a running node on the Jawug network ... Linked to Dawnview in Edenvale.
 
Thanks to RichardP for providing an Antenna on Dawnview which will allow the "WildWestMesh" to merge with the Jawug Dawnview Mesh. Testing is underway and we hope to have a 23km link from Roodepoort to Dawnview within a couple of weeks. This should increase the size of the Jawug Mesh to about 24 or so nodes...

All equipment has been acquired, and some early testing has been performed. I am moving the location of the equipment over the weekend, for further tests, but I expect to have us linked by Sunday (Wife depending) ;)
 
Northcliff and Dawnview Link

Hello there...some know me some do not....
It is possible to link Dawnview to Northcliff...18.8Km
you just have to use a 23.5dbi mesh on both sides.
30m high on Dawnview and 20m high at Northcliff...

Microwave links for cctv cameras

Hi there,

Please help me with the following. We want to link highspeed domes with the controlroom with microwave links. The camera and controlroom is about 1.5 - 3km apart from each other.

What do I need for such an aaplication? Hardware and software.

There will be a total of 6 highspeed domes.

Which companies can help? Do someone know a company called Ducknall/Dacknall that supply microwave links in JHB/CapeTown?
