No Data connection but full signal

I have been having this very same issue now since March 2011 on the East Rand. First in Boksburg, then later in Kempton too. It is NOT going to get fixed. Trust me on that. If they have not been able to make a single improvement in 2 years, they will never fix it. I have been checking every single day, it is always the same. At best I get about a total 20 minutes of decent data flow per day, the rest of the time it is dead.

It is time to stop posting here to the puppet that Cellc has put on these forums to try and calm us and to start phoning radio shows, newspapers and get the word out there. For some of us, CellC is the only signal we have in our area so even swapping is not an option and people swapping will takes years to have an impact.

I have the same issue at UCT upper campus. Full signal but no data. Going to flight mode and back starts the flow of data again for a few minutes.

This is with Vodacom using a RAZR.

It doesn't happen anywhere else.

Then you have a different issue than the one in the subject, because this one started about Feb/March 2013.
The issue we have is "congestion" at peak times, about 18:00-22:00.

Bought a prepaid Vodacom last Saturday. Haven't touched CellC since. I bought the 3GB (valid for 365 days) last August. Left with over 500MB. It was nice but recently been struggling during pick hours as suggested by my Nephew above.

mowbray capetown

The same thing happens to me in mowbray. Full signal on wcdma. And I try open a webpage but it takes forever. Or just doesn't open at all. This is on my lg nexus 4

Seems ok again today - not great but working.

thieves still going on! how many months now? pietermaritzburg area. is anything being done to sort it out?
Cell c rep?

Unfortunately I'm moving back to the Vodascum after being with Cell C for 6 months...can't deal with the crapfest that Cell C has become any longer. Thank goodness I'm not on contract. I don't know how Cell C can call themselves a service provider when their service has become non-existent for so many.

I had high hopes for these guys but clearly they don't take themselves or their customers seriously anymore...which will be their inevitable downfall.

Its unfortunate that we bang our heads for cheaper data rates and when we get it, too many people abuse it and this is the outcome.
Its very expensive to upgrade base stations, Cell C is hardly making any profits on their low prices, now they have to beef up their network at the same time.
I suspect the bigger service providers are aware of this hence their higher OOB prices. They obviously have more customers and to allow data abuse would spoil the experience for everyone.
Sad but true.

I spoke to their tech support. They say there is a known problem in parts of Gauteng and they are busy upgrading base stations, and in the meantime I must manually roam on Vodacom...

lolololol.

How are you abusing it if you are paying for the data that you use? It's not uncapped, you pay per Mb.

looks like that 'unsustainable' argument we all mocked was bang on target

Lol, how does MTN and Vodacom manage with heaps more users and traffic?

Its CellC and their bad infrastructure decisions.
