If you're only going to do 10GB on the 4MB connection then the R290 deal is WAY better for you.

I'm 100% with you on this. Of course the heavy down loaders will try to convince us that it is distributions of software and patches that require those 24/7 downloads. Or the other one is downloading HD movies (Let's use an average of 8Gb per 1080p HD movie. 150Gb still gives you 18 movies to watch in a month!). I am on a 384k line and do my fair share of downloading from the news servers using my local data allowance. Even with this line speed I have a stack of stuff that I have not got around to watching!

I suggest you inform the rest of your company about this - especially your support staff. I take it the MyADSL forum is not AfriHost's official support channel....

Upgrading, downgrading, cancelling or re-activation of your account is not allowed on or after the 25th of each month. This is due to billing already processed among other reasons.

Please note you will only be able to cancel your account after the 1st.

Also note you will get a refund you will need to take it up with our accounts department.

If I don't have my money in my bank account by the 1st, I will approach the bank to reverse the charges there, which, make no mistake, will let some alarm bells ring at your bank, especially with a few thousand doing it.

I'm sick and tired of listening to AfriHost's running arround, avoiding the issues, and utter bullsh...

Savage, with all due respect you are being a little dim about this. How can the money be in your bank account by the 1st if it will only just get into Afrihost's account on the 1st?!?!? You are lucky they do not hold onto your money for 45 days (in fact I may recommend Afrihost does this), as most other companies do, as you are still able to reverse the payment at the bank within this period thus resulting in your getting the money back twice!

No alarm bells will ring at the bank at all. Afrihost did not steal your money. You gave permission for them to debit your account! You are bloody lucky he is offering a refund. Ungrateful people!

You're admitting to doing exactly what the guys with the 4MB lines are doing, the only difference is they're doing it at 12x the speed. (because thats what they paid to have access too)

"HOW MUCH" I can download is limited by my line speed already!

Further to this I do not download 24/7! I use my laptop for work on a daily basis so at worst my downloads are only ever after 5pm and before 7am. Even if this were not the case I will repeat that I have a 384K line. If I want to browse the net I can't be downloading, so in reality my downloading is after 11pm!

And as for you paying for it and deserving it.... you are not paying 12x more than I am for 384k "uncapped"

Care to change tack with your argument now?

I wonder if they will start throttling at 15gb when they see how many people are supporting them :D. You are giving the option of going lower and lower lance. They have already dropped from 200gb to 30gb. Keep supporting them dude :D, fly the F me over flag high for us.

Sorry to say, but if you think a few thousand people are going to join you in throwing their toys out the cot, I think that you are going to be sorely disappointed. Most people who actually read will know what to expect.

There is no false advertising.... it has been shown repeatedly that you were unlikely to ever be cut off - therefore UNcapped. Can you point out someone who has been cut off?

Also you will note that there is always an escape clause stating that all T&Cs can be changed at any time.

No need to change tack - I also didn't download 24/7 -- I actually only downloaded the stuff I watched on the weekend, during the weekend. In fact, for both Friday and Saturday, I downloaded something, and while watching it, downloaded something else, which I watched directly after... come Monday - I'd run out of things to download - which I actually think I stated on this forum.

Someone then recommended I download something in HiDef to see what it was like - thats when the **** hit the fan.

If your downloading is after 11pm - you must go to bed pretty late?

Might not be paying 12x more, but I am paying more than double - on both line and internet access.

EDIT: Just saw this is the Q&A thread - not debating in this thread any longer - as stated . LancelotSA - you win.

Yup i am ignorant i generally trust people not to abuse us but as usual trust is never a good thing with SA companies. Anyways enjoy your 30gb throttled and shaped to hell account lance :D. On 384 30gb should last you the entire month.

I just hope loads of peeps dropped afrihost so that other isp's don't try rape the rest of us. In Sa all you need is one company to show the way for the rest.

Very nice post ipwnu, extremely well put. Of course you have people who think Afrihost are the god's of the isp world and they will now be limited to 30gb a month :D

Just like the ISPs trusted that not everyone would try and rape/abuse them when they released an uncapped offering? This mentality of all for myself, and get all you can screw everyone else, runs deeper in SA than just the companies and politicians...

I hope so too... as stated by Gian if usage settles they will review the fair use policies making this service better for those of us who it suits!
 
I don't recall seeing them throttle the accounts at 150gb?

I saw them doing it at 30gb when they said hundreds of gb's lance. Sorry if people took hundreds of gb's to mean just that. O look i can do hundreds of gb's hmmmmmm naaa i will stick to 30gb. Not sure your logic cap is on tonight lance. It is like going to an all you can eat place paying and you get told you can only have one plate. Suck them in and then screw them over :D.

Why would they review the fair usage policy, the less you download the more they make lance. If they can see they have a good user base happily paying for 30-40gb of bandwidth a month you think they will say ok you guys can download hundreds of gb's again?

LOL he can get about 4-5 a month and then can happily browse and check his mail :D. While we are downloading 100 gb's hahaha. How people are sticking with afrihost is beyond me. Must be high on something really amazing.

The quality of 1080 movies is just mind blowing lance, dvdrips look horrid now. With your 30gb account i suggest sticking with dvd rips to conserve your uncapped account :D.
