No, go for it. We often have some spare daytime capacity for downloads on premium uncapped. We just prefer that the very big downloads are scheduled instead. :)

Have you guys ever offered your services to Eskom? They can do with that foresight!

hi all,

CW basic uncapped 4mb

will this work for me?

i Do quit a lot online gaming,1-3hours a day like dota and battlefield
Torrents usually at night or weekends(not big on torrents 40GB)
day time big downloads are usually things like from Microsoft sites ect which go between 100mb-1.5gb
Streaming i do on my tv via my phone and dstv now.

Total a month is never over 70gb but im going to be bit more aggressive and say for safe sakes i use 100gb.

So is gaming good on this package and streaming,i know the torrents will work great at night or weekends so thats not a big concern during the day

that uncapped should be good for you. You can also consider looking at their capped products which could save you a bit of money, perhaps the 90Gb Anytime and 350Gb (Midnight Data) package. Then schedule all your downloads for between 00:00 and 06:00. This means your downloads will use your midnight data and your normal streaming/gaming will use your anytime data :)

Premium uncapped is designed for gaming and streaming. Really is. Operates with huge priorities for that and is the best account for this sort of requirement. Basic uncapped may work, depending on how hard you push your peak usage up from now on.

Crystal Web - are you guys shaping b/w during business hours to your newserver? Or is the shaping limited to international data?

this is also a concern of mine. Not so much 8 am to 5 pm but after 5 pm - what is the shaping like on Capped accounts?

At AH atm - I can dl at full line speed (10Meg line) with no shaping - OK when it works..... it works well.
Yesterday after 5 pm I could dl a 1080p distro at full line speed for the complete file (5 gig) - will I not get that with CW capped accounts?

AVR

Guessing that streaming works great 24 7?

On premium uncapped is always has priority. Gaming on premium accounts is one of the most important to us as a network, so we actively push that traffic through as fast as possible to give you the best latency, both locally and internationally.

On premium uncapped, it sits in the priorities just after gaming, so streaming is massively prioritised as well.

In essence you should look at premium home uncapped as an account that shapes your downloads dynamically, and everything else gets priority.

If however (as we've identified) you switch on your downloads and leave them running 24x7, it will flag it for me to investigate. I will personally deprioritise an account at my discretion that does this, as it's just not the way to operate a fantastic network for everyone. If you need to download permanently, opt for capped, or risk the account being deprioritised. That's the only stipulation we have in terms of general network management.

Which capped? :D

Streaming has high priority on all accounts at CW though.

What I'm trying to get at, if I only care about streaming, is a 90GB Home capped account going to be exactly the same as the premium uncapped accounts or is there a slight difference?

Minor differences on our backend. Premium uncapped is designed for thebest experience on streaming and gaming, without a shadow of a doubt. Capped share priorities equally for the most part, dependent on the capped package.

Lastly, on a premium uncapped account, a few posts have mentioned "Download in off peak periods to avoid being deprioritised etc etc", what time is off peak? Midnight to 6am or 8am?

Midnight to 8am for premium. But test the network - it's easy to see if there's spare capacity at any time - if the download runs well and it's not massive (like multi GBs) then fire it off and let it complete. When it shapes, it means we're shaping it now, and it would be better scheduled when you spot that, than leaving it running. Although if you're happy to have it shaped then you can leave it on. It's just big queues of downloads and very big downloads that we prefer fires off in off peak. Streaming and gaming traffic dies down and there's plenty spare capacity for downloads at that time then.

Hope this helps.

I use about 100GB->150GB a month, but I'm most concerned with latency to EU (Diablo 3). Best choice for the gaming is the premium uncapped?

Currently on a capped package and my pings are rock solid sub 200ms every time I play international (EU).

A capped account with your usage will be perfect imho.

Apologies for the delay in getting out new login details to new customers.
