In regards to the email sent out moments ago: Where will current users be allocated among the launching products? As home? Business? Or its own package? Are there any permanent shaping adjustments or just relaxing for one month?

We don't like to muddy the waters between home and business users, for various reasons that watching the current state of the market should help elucidate.

But current users will remain on their current products - that doesn't change. But we're giving you all a month of additional value by switching off some of the heavy handed shaping on some protocols or rather relaxing them. We may even extend it, and new users who sign up will also benefit from the same.

Good work guys, I don't think we will ever know the effort that went into this endeavor.

Just give me 5-6 months to use my free data from Samsung and Vox, keep innovating and trailblazing and you might just see me soon.

It looks like I was missed when this email was sent out :( Can someone perhaps post it on here ?

I got home yesterday and my 1 day old VDSL Zyxel router had blown.
Making weird popping sounds and smelling like an electronics bonfire :(

Good Morning,

I would just like to know when our user names will change as my notifications go to my work's e-mail address & if this happens tomorrow I will not be able to access the internet over the weekend?

Going out before midday. We're cutting it fine, I know, but we need to try to eliminate any possible errors.

It's been quite a while since I've sent a personal email to everyone with updates. That's partly because we've been too busy to know our own names over the last 2 months, and partly because we've not needed to. Things have been working smoothly for the most part. There are however a few things I'd like to cover in this mail, namely:

The great billing and technical crisis of October 2014
The upgrades
The future
The launch
What it means to you

Firstly, let me apologise personally for the billing errors this month. We've embarked on a huge upgrade of all of our back-end systems as the clock hand ticks closer to our official launch and Cinderella finds her digital slipper. We have now fully migrated to our new systems and all is operational, but during this time, the slip of a fat finger saw erroneous invoices sent out, which is unacceptable. On the bright side, it did earn Red Bull a considerable amount of additional revenue from the Crystal Web team over that week.

In addition, we had a problem with our shaper not correctly allocating the profile of a few customers. This inconvenience has been rectified, and November will be like an early Xmas as all of these growing pains are laid to rest. Currently the news server we offer for free (the only such premium, free news server access in SA) is down for some much needed maintenance on the authentication side to make it even better for you, and will be back up later today.

Now let's move on to the good stuff, and the reason you're probably still reading this:

The upgrades are 99% complete. All systems are a go on our side, and we are moving you over to the shiny new Crystal Web management systems - 6 months in development, and finally ready for release after considerable testing. This means that we will be sending out your permanent Crystal Web login details. Your passwords won't change, but your username will, and this ensures that you reap the full benefits of the Crystal Web network and systems, including a completed and incredibly functional customer portal with self service functions, and transparency into your connection. We will not be changing your details again, and this is the 1% missing from the upgrades I mentioned. You will need to change the username in your modem or whichever device you use to dial the connection to the Crystal Web network. Our live support staff are on hand to assist if need be.

So what are we doing for you this coming month over and above that?

Well, we're relaxing the shaping policies for you. We're going to delay the shaping of just about all customer accounts this month. We're also releasing new products for the home and for your business, to coincide with the release of our new website and the launch of the full Crystal Web ADSL product suite. In addition, we are launching our fibre optic broadband business, as well as our wireless fibre optic broadband business for the home. Stay tuned for news about the latter.

What new products are we releasing?

We're not going to disclose all of the details just yet, but needless to say that finally consumers will have true choice with their ISP, no matter what type of internet user you are. And at price points to match.

Did you hear price reductions?

Yes, you did. We will be reducing the price of DSL circuits this month as well as introducing some amazing bundles. Not all products will release at once, so keep checking the website after launch and news sites like www.mybroadband.co.za for more information.

What does the future hold for Crystal Web?

The future is bright; it's sparkling; and it's a thing of beauty - our future is truly embodied by our name, and to us it's Crystal Clear! You can help by referring friends and family to Crystal Web, and as usual we will reward you. We're soon to introduce the Crystal Clear Rewards Program - cash in for some incredible giveaways, and the points are our gift to you. More info to be revealed soon.

We started this business with immense passion for the internet, a goal to liberate internet users, and a vision to provide innovative and quality internet services to everyone, no matter your status in life. With the release of Crystal Web Fibre Broadband, Crystal Web Wireless Fibre Broadband, and our full suite of ADSL, hosting, and cloud products, we believe that together with you, we are primed to achieve these goals we've set for ourselves.

Whether you're receiving this email because you're a subscriber, an ex-subscriber, or someone who wanted to know more about us, we at Crystal Web as a team thank you for your support, and we promise to never stop innovating for you. We also promise to never stop putting in the late hours we do to keep things running, and to ensure that you can be proud to say that You Made The Best Connection with Crystal Web.

Kind regards

Shaun Kaplan
Managing Director and founder of Crystal Web

Sorry Slamz :D

So far after 2 months of Usage I am happy to report that youtube and the other 2 services that shall not be mentioned run perfectly at anytime of day. my 4mb connection has never been more stable. my rdp services never give me a moment of grief and modem reboots only happen when the bugger decides to stop responding. The support guys are great and friendly. I don't do large downloads and mainly stream so for the downloads I cant really comment.
