Good to see CW are getting into wireless fiber. That could be huge.

What are the monthly costs on that looking like (excluding installation)? Is it going to be suitable for home use?

@CW any eta on news server?

We just need to finalise the new usernames - it's a bit of a process. Once that is done the news server authentication will go back up.

Costs are absolutely suitable for home use. And no digging up of pavements; no 6 to 12 month installation time; no massive installation costs to recover; and the same speeds achievable as fibre for a fraction of the fixed cost.

That's what I was thinking. Sounds like absolute heaven.

Hope you guys have a ton of success with it.

It is still community-driven - installation for a single customer is not feasible without forcing 10 year contracts. :D

Absolutely synchronous. It's a fibre connection - last mile connection to you is wireless, and wireless doesn't care about your up and down speeds. Only Telkom do.

There are more details to be released very soon. Stay tuned.

I think I just died.

Crystal Web, any chance you can do 5.8Ghz setup's for the normal users? IE 1, 2, 4, 10 Mbps clients? Like 2 of these sectors and one of these grids on the client side. I know you can buy your own frequency range that it does not clash with the open frequencies.

Is it only going to be for specific suburbs?

Well, it seems I also want to join the CW family.
Questions:
1. I have my line with Afrihost at the moment, I kind of LOVE the fact I can do so much (reset ports etc etc) with the interface.
1a)Will you be able to do the same if line is transferred over ?
1b) How much of an issue will the transfer be ?
2. My ADSL is currently (till 31DEC) paused with Afrihost, can I sign up for the month of Nov + Dec, and then cancel - if not happy with your services ?

You can do the same with us too on your line, and we're introducing some very cool things on the line side as well in the coming month after the portal releases.
The transfer requires you to move it back to Telkom, then let us know when it's complete and we'll handle the line migration for you, to us.
You can certainly sign up now and December. You can cancel with us by the 18th of every month for the same month.

Going out before midday. We're cutting it fine, I know, but we need to try to eliminate any possible errors.

Any update re the new user names? Really need to know before I go home or get the e-mail sent to different e-mail address (how do I change this?) - thanks

This Fibre thing sounds nice and all, but meh you have to have x amount of people in a certain square meter area that all want the service. But here's hoping CW goes the 5.8Ghz route at a later stage.

Please advise which the correct email address is to use for cancellations?

Want to make sure I cancel service tomorrow "as per the rules", so that I don't throw away R425.00 again for something I won't be using.

Just a quick note - there is a slight delay with getting the usernames finalized and they should be out within the next hour or so.
