So I'm guessing that's where the problem lies then, too many users connecting there.
you should probably get one of the seecows to leave the river and cull off a few of the old people ...

Or the condition of the copper cable between the house and the exchange...

didn't realize there was that much fibre going through Hankey ...
Hi Paul, I wanna know, my account is supposed to be active as from 12am tonight, can I enter the CW details in my router before going to bed and should it be up and running in the morning? Also I have not yet received an invoice to pay for my new account or will this only be once my line is ported to CW from telkom?
Ok thanks, can't wait to get away from AH!you can plug in the details and it should be up in the morning - might need to reboot the router in the morning, or put in the details save have the reset and then switch it off and switch on in the morning.
Will need to check with the billing department on the invoices but if you have your details it should connect.
Streaming still crap in the Cape on a 10mb line with home capped. YouTube on 480p and Netflix not hitting HD. I wonder if this is an IS thing as I see WA users in the Cape complaining too. That said I think CWs rules on the home capped are more restrictive than WA. Really not enjoying the switch to CW. Oh and speed tests show everything is hunky dory 9ms 8.7mb down and almost 0.8 up.
Like the Portal so far, very clean layout. Just not chuffed with my April payment showing as 20 odd days overdue when it's been paid, lol.
But yeah, good step in the right direction![]()
Two main routes bypass your town. A 'coastal fibre' and an 'inland fibre'. Those form part of the 'national ring' linking PE to Cape Town. They pick up all the towns and cities on the way. Then you get inter-exchange cables that do just that; link exchanges in a 'local ring'. Even here there are dual links following different physical paths to ensure redundancy.I'm also surprised at the amount of fibre connectivity in this part of the EC. I remember the Telkom techs installing it some years ago, and there's a fiber line running to the exchange, IIRC, less than five hundred meters from me.
Telkom mini-links installed for MTN... site has been there for around 10 years already (equipment gets upgraded periodically). There are also brand new antennae installed on the top of the water tower in Paradise. I climbed up there three years ago and I recall seeing a Motorola unit that was 42MB/s capable.
Exact same problem I'm experiencing with streaming on 10Mbps home capped (Mpumalanga).
Support checked my account and said everything looked fine. Then when asked why my streaming was buffering to death he just disappeared from the chat.

Yes, existing ducts and poles. How are Telkom rolling out fibre to their exchanges in the major towns so quickly? Are there existing conduits that house copper already that they're just re-using?
