Official June 2014 Tests Thread

Now this is Bok rugby I can get used to.

Ben Smith vs Willie le Roux is going to be an epic battle layer thus year.
 
So boring ....... wish I could time travel forward to the RC already!
 
Meh, boring game.

Le Roux for man of the match.

Couple of positives to take from this game, though. Very solid defense, generally. Some great work under the high ball, particularly Le Roux, excellent debut from De Jager, good lineouts, solid scrums.
 
The Boks didn't seem to have a clue in the second half when Wales decided to pitch up and play some rugby.

If Wales keep their second half form and bring it into the next game we're in big trouble.
 
I really hope the conditioning guys in France can fix him like they did Juan Smith.

His injury setbacks have made him an average player.
 
Couldn't have asked for a better 1st half but the 2nd half was a snore-fest. What happened to the flair and creativity after half-time?

Not only did the Welsh decide to pitch up in the 2nd half but it also looked like we ran out of steam in the last 30 minutes. I know we like to think that the conditioning of the team is perhaps not up to scratch but if one looks at the amount of guys in the Bok squad who are playing for overseas clubs (Bakkies, Louw, Du Preez, Steyn, Steenkamp, Habana, Pienaar) I really can't see conditioning being a problem however the guys who've been playing Super Rugby are most likely tired as well.

Credit to Le Roux though...the man is pure magic and he's probably one of the best no. 15's in world rugby atm, if not the best already.

That is like saying the Spanish had a very good first quarter against the dutch in the Soccer World Cup and if they can only keep that going the rest of the world must beware.....

Natural things for teams to do when they lead with 20+ points? Take it a little easier.

He is a talent but with him not being able to see a season through for the last three years... well he is a liability.

+1. I really hope he comes back in a year or two, new and improved.

The Boks looked good on Saturday with guys like Jannie du Plessis and a few other under performers stepping up.

If Serfontein keeps building on this performance he will be our first choice come world cup time next year.

Morne even looked sharper on attack and defense than is the norm for him.

And what can we say that has not already been said about le Roux? Brilliant. He has improved his defensive and aerial play, which has really made him a more complete player. I for one was just happy to see that when le Roux created something the support play was good enough to round off.

Mmmmm, for me once Willie went off we looked very ordinary!! I'm not impressed with our backline. Good enough for Wales, won't be for NZ and OZ unless they improve significantly!!

Jan is used effectively as a battering ram in Super 15 but at international level he's not going to run over people!! He's so good on his feet, would like to see him searching for space rather than taking the man on over and over again. JP is not an international outside centre. Adequate at Super 15 level but not at test level, forget it.

Potential to be the greatest flyhalf of all time!! Quote me if you want!!! Such a pity, huge loss. Apparently he took a knock on his bad knee but scans are clear so he may be available for this weekend.

Morne's tactical kicking was superb, defensively be didn't make too many mistakes but on attack he was as sharp as a dessert spoon.

I think if Pollard keeps growing like he has been, then Goossen will find it very difficult to unseat him.

Just hope they don't coach his natural talent to death at the Bulls by forcing him to play their game.

He's quite fantastic, really. Check how many times he did that little sideways step and then a sudden burst of speed to create space. He created both of Habana's tries, and was only not involved in 1 of them.

Just wonder how a better defensive unit would counter him. They could effectively shut him down if they paid more attention to what he's doing. Then again, his improvement on the high ball made a huge difference. Knowing you have that solid cover in the back is very useful.
