Official Motorola RAZR thread (Android version)

Yeah I mean, I cleaned the USB connection on my phone

It got quite dirty in there, the cotton wool was black where it contacted the port on the phone

Thx for the suggestion but didn't work either. I finally gave the phone in for repair.
2 weeks no phone! Get to use my wife's Razr when she allows it, which isn't often.
Anyone receive the ice-cream update yet?

Guide

Ok, flashed euro ICS rom, everything working 100%, but the new MTP method does not work correctly under mint (but works under win7).
There is good news though. I see they still have a usb mass storage mode in this rom.

Hey Nuro, which guide did you use to load up ics onto your moto?
I'm tired of waiting for MotoSA and I am extremely jealous of my brother, who is running JB on his Defy.
I'm going to jump over onto ICS and wait for the guys to fix up the camera on JB for the RAZR. Any other ROM you'd recommend beside the one you mentioned here?

DISCLAIMER: This worked for me, should work for any EMEA razr, but i'm no expert, so proceed at your own risk :)
Once you upgrade, there is no going back to gingerbread.
This procedure will reset your phone to factory defaults.

Use this link to get the fastboot files (this is the actual rom):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1747800

Read this link on how to use RSD lite to flash the file, just don't use their fastboot file link, you already have one.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1540648

After this you should have ICS on your moto. Just one last thing, use this link to update your rom to the latest. There are instructions on flashing it on the link:

Hope it works for you.

Does anyone have the factory cable?
Any good repair shops in Cape Town phone is bricked.

No, the recovery doesn't work now. It does take factory cable, it is special cable that bypass the battery check in bootloop and also keeps the phone alive during flashes.
I just have to add im NOT in this situation cause of your previous post. I tried flashing custom rom.

Thanks! I'm going to try putting CM9 onto it, I really liked CM on my milestone

Anyone know if motorola closed up shop or if they just moved?

Went to the motorola in woodmead but they not there anymore.

Would like to ask if they can fix my screen and possibly get parts to upgrade to maxx.

They pulled out of SA a year or 2 ago. That's why it's so ****ing hard to get accessories for the phone here...

Weird, I'm sure someone in this thread took their phone to motorola near woodmead and got ics a couple months ago?

Anyways.. For accessories just go to takealot, there will be a wait but it's worth the wait, and they take eBucks, this is how I got my navigation dock. My OEM Motorola cover with the kick stand is arriving in a few days. Oh the the phone in the cover apparently fits in the nav dock once the insert has been removed. The cover was less than 200.

That's what the guy at Vodaworld told me, that's why all of us had to import pouches, docks etc, apparently they closed all their shops here. I got mine from Expansys. Took 2 months though.

Maybe the other person was referring to a Vodacom/MTN shop..
