Official Tri-Nations 2011 Thread

My concern is we lose 1 or 2 of these guys to injury this Saturday and 1 or 2 next Saturday and all of a sudden we fielding a B team again come World Cup!! I would have wrapped my 1st XV in cotton wool until Wales 11/9/2011...

No I'm happy to see them getting some game time together. It's all good and well to practice at camp but putting that into action and going in to the WC with some confidence in each other and the game plan is worth risking an injury here and there...

Wales, Fiji, Samoa and Namibia are our group games. That's all the practice games they need....

I will drop Spies from the team as he has done nothing to impress me since he got ruled out of the last WC.

All I know is that we are going to kak next year when we start building a new team.

Not necessarily. Fiji and Samoa gave us a run for our money last time around although Wales and Namibia should be pushovers to be honest. Far better imo to go into the WC with at least one game as a fully-fledged team under our belt - especially against the Aussies or All Blacks where we can fine-tune our game against them...

Since he got diagnosed with multiple deep vein thrombosis and had to stop taking all the steroids...?? :p Like Habana the talent and class is there. Given the right mindset and circumstances they'll regain their mojo and then watch out!!

Samoa is a 20-30 minute side and we humored Fiji by trying to play their loose flamboyant style of rugby. Lessons learnt which won't be forgotten during this campaign.... we hope....

Catch wales, somoa and fiji on a good day and we go home. We need more than one game with our possible full team, we need the next 2 tri nations to be our best team which i doubt can happen but we need it.

There is no way we go into the world cup thinking this team or that team will be a push over, we go in thinking we can lose to namibia. Teams that think they have a game won before they play come up short.

Samoa and SA to progress from our pool. SA to win 4/4, Samoa to beat Wales, Fiji and Namibia to progress...

Agreed, unfortunately the more likely outcome is losses with casualties.

Eish, today a month or tournament kicks off!!!! Ooooooh.....

True. I would also have like to see less of the top 15 in these last two matches.... thought they would play a more experienced core + "b team" fillers :D

We should start a betting pool :D.

Everyone makes their picks, put in 50 bucks and bang on winners split the taking. If there are no winners the money rolls into the next pool.

1.
2.
3.
4.

Would make it interesting. If no one cracks it we go to 1. 2. 3. and so on. I mean over all

Man oh man its good to see most of these names back in the team!! Brussouw is the surprise for me. Considering how little rugby he has played I hope he doesn't get torn apart. I'm slightly surprised to see James at 10 but am confident he can do the job and defend like his life depends on it. I can see Bismarck coming on and Smit moving to prop at a later stage in the game.

I'm going to be there so I hope we give it stick!
