Ok guys. My phone is here, I got it litellaly a few hours ago. Let me get the obvious questions out of the way:
Q: How much did the phone cost?
A:329GBP which translated to R6069.16 via paypal at the time
Q:How much did shipping cost?
A:Oneplus offers free shipping to the UK(weirdly they shipped from Poland of all places). I shipped to Postbox and they charged me 22.76GBP (R411.62) to ship to SA.
Q:How about import duties.
A:Ouch, I wish you didn't ask. I ultimately paid a total of R1429.40+R150.00(Disbursement Fee)=R1579.40.
Q:How much did it cost in total?
A:R(6069.16+411.62+1579.40)=R8060.18. This is obviously exchange rate dependent.
Q:Are you happy about the total cost?
A:Not really. I was hoping to keep the costs below R7000. But considering that I have a top of the range phone with latest chip and and 64Gb storage. Also considering that the exchange rate, I am happy. I suppose I could have bought Mi5 and saved a bit but, meh.
Q:Why did you order from the US. it would have been around R400 cheap?
A:I know, but the US version doesn support all of our LTE bands
Q:How long did it take?
A:14days from placing the order.
Q:Impressions on the phone so far.
A:The build quality is as good as the iphone. It is thinner that one might think. The camera bump is not as prominent as I thought
Thank you for the update!
I would be too bummed about the cost. I paid R7899 for a Mi5, and to the honest I dont think its compatible to the 1+3.
Coming from the original 1+1, I would have loved to get the 1+3, but the local availability and warranty was the deal breaker.
