Oneplus 5

Just got the 6GB version. Paid R7100 for the phone, karbon cover and screen guard. Loving the upgrade from my S5.

Congrats! That's a great price. I paid £476.95 (roughly R8k at the time) just for the 64GB model and the Bulletproof bundle that includes the Karbon Protective case and the (cheap) earphones. And I didn't have to pay any import duties, shipping or VAT thanks to family carrying it to SA for me. It's a lot cheaper in the US.

I'm having such a hassle with Aramex at the moment. Ordered a OP3T from Gearbest 3 weeks ago and have been tracking it on 17Track. Got an invoice from Aramex for customs, paid and now delivery has stalled. Been on the phone with them numerous times and everyday its a different story. Would advise to avoid using them if you're ordering from overseas.

Good day,

Contact me and I will assist in pushing Aramex on feedback. If the item has been stopped by customs for inspection, you will lose a week or so. But otherwise, if it has cleared customs, it should deliver quickly. I do know a few people there that can assist in pushing the package to ensure it gets to you quickly due to these delays.

It's always the small things I like most with each firmware update. The previous update's highlight for me was the new OnePlus Slate font, and with this 4.5.10 update it's the more vibrant default screen calibration. Looks really nice.

How have you been finding the camera ? I have seen mixed reviews online about it suffering in low light. And even more so after the new update

I've only shot maybe half a dozen pics with mine so far but I was quite impressed with this low light shot...

I got my Gold 5 on Thursday, been tinkering ever since. Quite enjoying it but the jelly scroll effect which I didn't think was a biggie is actually quite distracting and irritating. A bit disappointed if I'm being honest... @Bryn do you notice it on your model?

I dig the camera. Only use it infrequently, but when I do it's superb. Generally I only need it when lighting conditions are good though.

I've never noticed any jelly scrolling, and neither has my step-bro who also has a OP5.

I've seen claims that it's just a thing with your eyes - either you can see it or you can't. Others have said they can see the effect on some devices but not others. A poll on the forum a while ago suggests the vast majority of owners can't detect the jelly effect.

Sorry to hear you can see it.

Yeah, there is a suggestion that the effect should be consistent on every 5 as it is caused by the upside down mounted panel, which is consistent on all devices.

Do you know what to look for and how to invoke it? I picked it up within the first minute of using mine.... so sad and once you've seen it....

Enough people have claimed to see the effect on only some devices that I don't think OnePlus has disclosed the full story. Perhaps the impact of the effect is greatly exacerbated by having vision of a certain dispensation, but it seems likely that small manufacturing variances are the biggest culprit imo.

A very disproportionate number of people who see the jelly effect were early bird orders for the 128GB model. Fortunately my early bird order was for the 64GB model, and my step-bro's 128GB model was not an early bird order (but the day it went on general sale). Might have made a difference otherwise.

Hi all, thinking of getting the 1+5 as an upgrade to my Xiaomi Mi5...

Just read the T&C's on the Pophong page and I see that they load a customized ROM before sending that doesn't allow for OTA updates.

Please confirm if this is something I should be concerned about?

When I bought the Mi5 I thought I had bought an international version but eventually realised that it was loaded with the sellers ROM and needed to flash a Global ROM before I could receive any updates.
Will I have to do the same with this purchase?

No, the A5000 ships with the official international rom.
