Oneplus 6

Was ready at 11am sharp to place my order. Sorted:

People on the forum complaining the midnight black models are already out of stock when you try checkout, that the shop isn't working properly etc.

where did you order from?

Using Stackry. Should cost less than R9k with customs. I should get $10 off for referrals.
I estimated customs here.

Getting the 128gig and tempered glass.

I generally recommend people get the Karbon protective case. I have it on my OP5 and it's perfection. It's so thin that it doesn't extend the dimensions of the phone - it merely matches the maximum point. So the camera bump on the back, the buttons on the side and it doesn't cover the top and bottom. As someone who hates cases, I dig this one. So I ordered the same one for my OP6.

As for the display, in the first week of owning my OP5 I peeled off the screen protector it ships with. Immediately it felt much nicer to use, as the Gorilla Glass is smoother. And to date the display doesn't show so much as a micro-scratch if you hold it to the light. Gorilla Glass is durable stuff.

Heard that the phone comes with a case.

I'm paranoid about the screen cracking. I dropped my 3T, cracked in the corner.

It does come with a case, but it's nice to have an extra one and one that you might be more inclined to keep on. The included transparent one is bulkier than the official protective cases.

A cracked screen is caused by a bad impact that ripples through the device. A screen protector won't do a damn thing about it. If you're really concerned about dropping your phone then this is what you need:

The nylon one looks great. I was torn about whether to get that or the thinner protective one, but opted for the latter on account of knowing I'd get annoyed at a case messing with the aesthetic of the device. And I don't think I've ever dropped a phone, so not overly concerned about a thick case.

If you truly have butter fingers, get something like an Otterbox. They're ridiculously protective.

Does anyone have ideas on why Oneplus gets so much hate online? This phone is brilliant, challenging phones that cost much more and yet...

MKBHD posted a nice video earlier comparing cameras. Try guess which letter is the OP6:

I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't the worst of the lot, but I was also surprised at how much I loved the S9+ camera. It was my first choice in nearly all the images. Too bad the S9+ costs roughly 2x OnePlus 6's locally.

Great post, turns out I like the Iphone X and S9 plus camera's the best, but since I need dual sim I went out and bought an S9 plus this afternoon.:).
