Hi mika1000

I am currently connected to your account and its running at full speed.

Im actually getting 3.4Mbps on your 2Mbps account.

I would suggest reconfiguring your router as something could've corrupted itself.

I can confirm the account is working as it should

Mr Beep, can you suggest what to reconfigure the router to? I have a Cisco Linksys router.
I'm also on a 2Mb line, capped unshaped account, but lately I can't youtube or do anything in the evenings. During the day the speed is fine. You guys tested my line said its fine, Telkom also says everything is ok on their side.
Also, I can stream video from a foreign site in the evenings perfectly. This rules out problems with the router and Telkom.

Thanks

@MrBEEP, I have a similar problem to iSteve here - except I can't connect at all. It is definitely ISP related, because if I connect with FNBconnect credentials I am ablt to connect just fine. There was a storm here last night, and since I disconnected I have been unable to connect to my standard uncapped account.

I have opened a call (#QXH-163-51467 - Leon took it up), but I can't say I am happy with the lead times on the emails. Can we speed it up a little, please? My home business lives and dies on the internet..

This Silver Uncapped Buy 1 Get 1 Free is complete nonsense!

In the email you receive it states:

"Don't worry, bandwidth speed will not be shared between the 2 connections. Each user will receive its own speed allocation!"

Yet when I tested this with my sister we found that we are in actual fact sharing the same 8mb bandwidth. If I start my download her speed drops drastically till we are both downloading at roughly 4mb.

As soon as one of us pauses the download, the others download speed increases.

Please explain MrBEEP?

very strange as my download speed was 0KB/s. i've reset the router. then used my afrihost account to connect to mybb to write the msg. afrihost ran at 220.5/KB/s down and 46.6KB/s up and 217ms ping international.

i've said it before and i'm saying it again - i've got 4 routers. and 5 diffirent isp accounts. plus 2 business accounts. only problem is with openweb. telkom tested and replaced everything they could.

when i reconnected to the account it was working again. speed is very erratic - from 25KB/ps to 210KB/s.

as a matter of fact my account just started responding again after another dead period.

just been through another dead period. openweb disconnect. connected to afrihost without any problem.openweb then reconnect by itself again.

Are you both in the same house using the same account or in different houses each using his/her own account?

On another note, performance on my account is still below what it used to be. Nowadays I avoid playing GW2 because of erratic latencies and lots of frame-skipping. This does not happen on my Mweb capped account, but I cannot use that for playing GW2 because it is my backup account.

Different houses, different adsl lines, different area even.

Hello,

A warm welcome to OpenWeb!

We have just sent you your new Silver Uncapped Buy 1 get 1 Free ADSL account. We have loaded 2 both connections to the same account username for ease of use.

Don't worry, bandwidth speed will not be shared between the 2 connections. Each user will receive its own speed allocation!

You may enter the same username and password on both ADSL lines!

Happy downloading!
Kind regards
Leon

Which I can prove at any time is not true.

Yeah, but seeing as you got two adsl accounts (or that's what I took from the promotion), are you sure you're not accidentally using the same account? Because most accounts will behave like what you're experiencing if two people are using the same account.

Hello Zyron,

As per our reply to your ticket, we have performed our own tests, and we cannot replicate your statement above.

Both connections are running at excellent speeds.

Different houses, different adsl lines, different area even.

Based on your Telkom log, it seems like your ADSL line is losing sync to the exchange.

The error received is PPP-Rcv-Terminate-Req. This means one of the following:

* Your ADSL line is flapping
* Your router is flapping
* Your DSLAM port is flapping

Please contact Telkom and log a fault

Im afraid it is not possible to troubleshoot via a public forum.

Please drop us a mail: [email protected] so that we can perform some further tests

That's the thing Zewp, I was given the same username and password for both accounts. Which means the account speed is set to 8mb and not the 16mb it should be.

It makes sense that if we are sharing the same account then we'll be sharing the same bandwidth speed which is exactly what is happening here. Even though they claim otherwise.

Okay MrBEEP, then let me and my sister use the account that you did the test on and then we can see what happens. Because we are definitely using the same bandwidth speed allocation and not our own individual 8mb.

No problem. Have you and your sister use the same account.

We double checked with two connections, one from Durban and one from Johannesburg. Similar results. Running at good speeds

These accounts are especially configured to not share bandwidth

No MrBEEP you are misunderstanding. I want the username and password that you used for the Durban/Johannesburg test. That way we can confirm what is wrong.

Hi Zyron,

With regards to the Buy 1 get 1 free accounts, it states the speed will be independent but will the bandwidth tracking be independent too? I.e. if the one account downloads too much will both accounts be penalized?

Thanks up front for any responses.

i've switched to my afrihost business account around 15.30 and is still using it without any problem. its syncing fine and havent disconnected so far.

my physical line had been replaced last week as well as the dslam. telkom say everything is fine.

my only problem is with openweb.
