Are you still having a problem? If so, please drop me a PM with your ADSL username

Hi,

Since about 45 minutes ago, the internet LED on my router turns red when connected on my openweb account (obviously I'm using the correct login details). It disconnected and when trying to reconnect just comes up red. What does this mean other than obviously having no connection?

Been having the same problem lately. Account still connects and works normally but the red LED is worrying. Never had this happen with any other account ever and I've been using ADSL for over 5 years now.

Have your port reset by Telkom. Or by MrBeep.

Hi MrBeep, problem still persists. Sent you a PM with username. (requested usage and Charmaine sent me a mail at 18:53 saying my account is hard capped. I suppose this could be it?)

Same problem with me. Running perfect with afrihost account. :(

This is correct. Your account is hardcapped.

Would you like to purchase topup?

Hi guys,

I will be upgrading my line to 10Mbps, but don't know which ISP i should use for Data.

My main usage of internet is on Torrent, direct downloads (24/7), sometimes online gaming, streaming videos, VoIP and then email.
I'm currently on MWeb premium 2Mbps Uncapped, but wanted to upgrade to 4Mbps data package.

Have been looking at OpenWeb special for a while now, and the current Vanilla Polar editions 4Mbps/8Mbps looks very nice, but i'm not sure if its good for a heavy downloader? Because my budget for an upgrade is +/- R450 per month, maybe up to R500 depends on the package offered.

I have compared to other ISP such as WebAfrica, Afrihost etc, and their 4Mbps packages are under R400, when I did some digging, most people recommend Openweb when it comes to heavy download users. Had a look at Silver since its Semi-UNshaped but its way over my budget.

Any recommendations? My current average usage on MWeb 2Mbps uncapped is about 130gb, with my highest 200gb per month. I can safely say 30% of the data used are uploads for torrent (seeding)

Thanks

I wanted to suggest the openweb gold account, but for your price range, their latest special "Gamers King (Downloaders Bling) – Limited Edition!" should be okay for you http://www.openweb.co.za/special.html

I was thinking and calculating my monthly budgets...I think I can bump my internet budget to max R600...Since I was looking at the OpenWeb Silver at R599.

But from what you have suggested, I might go for the 10Mbps Gamers king package...if my line can be upgraded before that offers end...

4Mbps Gold is R649 basically unshapped.
While the Gamers Kind 10Mbps is at R596 with 60% unshaped seems good enough, for the price.

Edit: Wanted to know, my internet line is currently 2Mbps, do you think its a good idea to buy this package now and secure it before the offer ends? Because i might have to wait about 2 weeks before my line upgrade get bumped to 10Mbps

local servers, getting 180 ping on openweb gold account, switch to afrihost, 40 ping

Online gaming isn't my main focus, downloading and streaming is.
The gamers package is the most bang for your bucks in my opinion, 10Mbps speed, under R600 (Max budget) and gaming prioritized when needed, and Gold account download speed after hours...is good really

Same here. I'm also from Stellenbosch and my pings this past weekend are a lot higher than I'm used to, browsing speed has been hellishly slow since Friday and downloads take much longer than they should.

Maybe its one of those days for ISP?
This can't be happening all the time right?

Nah, this is the first trouble I've had with this account in months, but it's pretty annoying. URLs take up to 10 seconds to resolve and the pages can take up to a few minutes to load.
