Hi Guys

Just been given this by our local IS guys :

Dear IS Client

Emergency Telkom SA Change Notification.

AFFECTED SERVICE: ADSL
LOCATION: Traffic routed via one of the Telkom Martis Nodes in Rosebank
START DATE: Wed 5 Jun 2013 16:30 (SAST)
END DATE: Wed 5 Jun 2013 18:30 (SAST)
EXPECTED DURATION: up to 30 min
IMPACT: Packet loss - Increased latency
REASON FOR CHANGE: Reseat network card to resolve identified problem

Thanks

You know what grinds my gears? Improper timing between clutching and shifting!

Ok jokes aside - why arnt reports like this available to every ISP so that they can let their clients know about downtime?

I just have to brag with my new 10Mbit connection :D

Been dealing with OW support now. Basically, to change my ADSL password I have to give it to somebody via email. They can't let me change it myself via a 'client zone'. They can't lock down my account to a single number, and they tell me that the usage statistics displayed on users.isdsl.net are incorrect.

Does OW not care about client security at all?

Openweb does not care about it's clients, been trying to get my issue sorted since 12 today, can't speak to any OW support waiting for them to call me back.

Been 5 hours really bad

We work closely with IS, but not for them, so we often get network notifications and then as a courtesy I post them here for you guys.

That's not been my experience at all. If I pop a mail off to Openweb I usually wait two hours at most for a reply. Openweb is also one of the few, if not the only that has a customer loyalty bonuses in the form of lowered contention ratios and the like.

I honestly can't imagine being with any other ISP.

are we allowed to compete and see whom downloads the most this weekend? XD

Is Facebook crawling for anyone else? Most other sites seem to be flying, but Facebook is like an asthmatic snail today

Edit: Most sites are not flying. All HTTP seems to be shaped to 30kBps. YouTube is full speed. Surely shaping is applied to downloads, and not browsing?

Edit 2: Just tested a different Openweb account (10mb Gamer King) on the line & everything is full speed. It's definitely an account related problem. Please help MrBEEP! I'm still waiting for support to call me back / respond to my email - 4mb Gold Leon Edition, Durban

Solved: Support got back to me and problem was resolved within the hour :)
